These days I try not to! In the case of driver to driver, we mostly only acknowledge an action which is not mandated. I think as ped or cyclist to driver we should do the same. The thank you wave when driver is doing what they should be doing just reinforces the perception of driver superiority.

A row of shuttered storage units. Peeling paint on wood and concrete
Crossing the River Plym. Small boats moored on 3 long pontoons. Blue sky with white clouds.
Old buildings in Sutton Harbour. A two storey pub, a narrow white 4 storey building. Bright sunlight.
A decaying wreck of a boat. All that's left are a few ribs sticking up and some broken timberwork covered in seaweed.
I spent some hours today following the waterfront around Plymouth as part of the South West Coast Path. It varied from the historic to the industrial to the derelict - worth a whole essay which I won't get around to writing. #SWCP
I tried the route via B'ham as an alternative to Reading and GWR, but I won't use it again.
Thanks. I thought there might be a technical reason/excuse but it's been like this for years. Cynical me suspects that while they can sell tickets why bother to invest. I wonder if anything will change when their franchise ends.
Cross-country Trains: "We don't think it's good for you to spend hours sitting down, so we only ever put on short trains so there aren't enough seats and you have to stand. It's for your own good."
Plymouth Sound in evening sunshine. Green grassy slope with a few buildings, calm blue sea, an island and low cliffs on the far shore. Blue sky streaked with high white clouds.
After sunset. A dark sea and low dark coastline. A few lights on shore in the distance. An orange glow in the sky on the right fades to bluey purple. Dark grey clouds make a random picture against the orange and purple background.
I travelled to Plymouth (the one in the UK) yesterday. Crap journey on Cross-country Trains but a fine evening up on the Hoe.
Sympathy and positive vibes from the other side of the blue space marble.
WHY HAVE I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THIS BEFORE? Now wondering when was the last time I said The Word. And yes, it rhymes.
That's not bad for a Monday morning. But how's the update going?
Kirkstone Inn reopened. This is very good news!

Sounds fun! Probably not something I'd feel competent to advise on, but - I can't promise - a very good Oxford-based friend of my son's writes and has taught creative writing. I could see if there's any chance he might help, if you'd like me to ask. He's a nice guy and I also count him as a friend.
What genre would you say it falls into?
Watching "The Thinking Game" on YouTube, about the better sort of AI - the sort that isn't a glorified autocorrect. Early mention of a little-known investor called Elon Musk.
"His ambition seems to be to die on Mars. Er, not on impact."
<hushed voice> You could have said "Well, if you're offering....".
Is it what's known as 'bacon' in America?
Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey.
You have to take the cobbles where you find them ๐
Just stick her (?) on a pole and you've got a handy long-pile paint roller ๐
'Measuring 23m (75ft) in length, with a height of up to 10m (32ft), the cave has been described as "enormous".'
Come on, you can do better than that! How many Olympic size swimming pools is that?

I seem to recall getting out through Jericho and crossing the canal at some point but again I could be mixing it up with other rides. 2/2
I think QL has - or used to have - cobbles down the edges, or 'gutters' as we might call them. But I could be mistaken. Bulwarks Lane probably needs a bike push to get out by Westgate. I'm not in Ox any more; I'm trying to remember where else Johnny's Quarry-Roubaix would go. 1/2
Sorry, you'd already said Radcliffe Square. Saw my mistake just after I'd hit 'send' and a moment before Bluesky gave up this morning. Anyway, I think there's another small cobbled area outside St John's near the coffee stall at the S end of St Giles.
From memory - Pusey Lane, George Street Mews / Bulwarks Lane, Radcliffe Square, the edges of New College / Queen's Lane.
The finest piece of local journalism you'll read today (probably).
But "talent" is priceless. Well, not priceless exactly, but very well paid.
"Now wash your hands".
The usual way. One at a time.
I'm not sure why they'd be bothered about it though.
