PsyPal partners OPEN Foundation are running an open-access event to discuss psilocybin assisted therapy for end-of-life distress. This session is based on findings from a clinical trial in Australia and likely to be a very illuminating session!

The creation of these guidelines brought together leading pharmacists, psychologists, psychiatrists & medical ethics experts. This sets the tone for more research into psychedelic therapies & greater interdisciplinary collaboration between these key groups at other national & international levels.
@psychedelicalpha.bsky.social reported on a landmark event at Champalimaud Foundation this month, where national clinical guidelines for psychedelic therapy for Portugal were proposed as an interdisciplinary collaborative effort.

2/ Data from up to July 2024 included two randomized controlled trials, assessing Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) scores on day 1 and 2-week follow-up.
1/ A systematic review and network meta-analysis recently evaluated psilocybin's effectiveness in reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms among cancer patients.

Spiritual care is an integral part of PsyPal, with key work being done by Hanneke Muthert of University of Groningen. Addressing spiritual needs is considered a core tenet of palliative care - yet these needs are often underserved in practice (Quinn & Connolly, 2023).
Earlier this month, PAREA contributed to a @psypaleu.bsky.social workshop organised by @iese.bsky.social in Barcelona. The event gathered stakeholders to explore how psychedelics can be integrated into palliative care, within and beyond the PsyPal project.
