This is the ONLY event that I'm able to attend this year, and I would love to meet any readers who are able to make it to Ohioana! 📚
I am so excited to head to the State Library of Ohio this weekend, pride flags waving! 🌈

She knows more about publishing than most other therapists ever will at this point! 😂
Thank you!! 🖤⚔️
Think I'm gonna work on this today. My therapist loves the concept for this book and we spent part of my last session trying to fill plot holes together. 😂
Hopefully someday y'all get to meet Ruby, my dead girl monster hunter out for revenge against the people who murdered her. ⚔️
Love you bestie 💖
Two book covers on a shimmery rainbow background. On the left is Don't Be a Drag by Skye Quinlan, with a rainbow background and a drag king taking dollar bills from a blue-haired female protagonist wearing a jean jacket covered in pride patches. The text beneath it says, Sapphic Drag Kings. To the right is Forward March by Skye Quinlan, with a sky blue and grass green background featuring multiple illustrated marching band members in blue and black uniforms. The two main characters looking at each other are front and center: a white girl with a red braid and a black girl with locs in a ponytail. The text above the book reads, sapphic band geeks.
A glittery background featuring the cover for Don't Be a Drag by Skye Quinlan. The cover has a rainbow background, and a drag king taking dollar bills from a blue-haired female protagonist wearing a jean jacket covered in pride patches. They share a flirtatious look. Surrounding the book are short phrases with tropes or characteristics from the books, which read clockwise from the top, sapphic enemies to lovers, "Spencer read," she/he pronouns, horror fanatic, lives & breathes drag, photography as flirting, lip-sync battles and drag shows, anime lover/fanfic writer, "you slept with the enemy?," anxious & depressed, she/he pronouns, "Edgar Allen Foe"
For #transrightsreadathon I have to share two YA books from my favorite ace lesbian & nonbinary author, @skyequinlan.bsky.social ! DBAD celebrates queer & drag culture, and FM embraces your inner band geek. Each contains a cast of diverse queer & trans characters and should be a must-read!!!
My therapist is trying really hard to get me writing again, and we had a really good session today where we talked about all of my ideas and what my fears are in writing them. I think I'm getting close to not having a panic attack every time I open a word document, and I couldn't be more excited. 😮💨
👀👀👀
Illustrated book cover. Two girls stand back to back. One looks upward with a determined look on her face; the other looks down, seeming pensive or sorrowful. Below them, between them, is a three-masted sailing ship. The sky behind them is a pale orange-pink color, while the waves that splash on either side of them are turquoise. The text reads The Loss of the Burying Ground by J. Anderson Coats.
The Loss of the Burying Ground will have a paperback edition! This YA pirates-and-castaways adventure is all about unlearning the messaging your gov't has been feeding you, then deciding what you're gonna do about it. LOVE the grabby tagline @candlewickpress.bsky.social added! Coming yr way 11/18!
I think reliving the trauma is what scares me the most, but recovery has to be worth it. I'm truly glad it's helped you! Hearing it from someone who's been through it vs. just my therapist explaining how it works is really helpful, so thank you so much. ❤️
This is really reassuring, thank you for sharing! 💖 We're hopeful that I'll make really good progress as well, she just warned me that actually starting EMDR can be stressful. 😣
I made little pictures on picrew of the two main characters from this MG sci-fi that I really want to start working on tomorrow, and look how cute they are! 😭✨🪐🚀
I have an idea for the cutest MG sci-fi, and now it's all I can think about. 🙃
Aro Week Spotlight: Common Bonds 2, ed. by Claudie Arseneault, Emery Lee, and RoAnna Sylver
Happy Aro Week! In celebration, we're highlighting the followup to a popular aromantic anthology (whose cover reveal we happen to have done here)—yes, Common Bonds returns for another anthology! Five years…
Cheers to grippy socks solidarity! 😭
It feels a little better today, though!
It's a rule in our house that I have to wear grippy socks. It's been this way since I slipped down the stairs in June.
The ONE NIGHT I don't wear them, I slip and fall on my wrist and currently can't feel two of my fingers.
It was worth it to save my Snubbull Funko from our dog, but ouch. 🙃
On top of this sapphic pirate fantasy that my wife and I are planning to write together, and the YA horror that I want to get prepped and ready for a proposal for my agent, I am reaaaaaaally in the mood to revisit my MG sci-fi???? ☄️☄️☄️
Reminder to comment on that art post or fanfic, and drop a review of that book. Telling creatives what you think, even if it’s just a one line sentence, truly does make a difference! And I don’t just mean ‘engagement’. I mean it will make their day. Tell someone when you love their work 🤍
Not me about to sign up for this sword fighting class just to help me write this fantasy book my wife and I have been talking about...
I think it's something we might look into if we can! It's just not an email I needed today. *Sigh* 🖤
💖
We had our oven break on Christmas morning a few years ago. We'd just bought our condo, and we were hosting dinner both of our families. 🥲
Agent. Vector. Environment.
I'm so thrilled to put my public health degree to use with this book I've had in my heart for YEARS. If you love body horror,The WWITCH by Robert Eggers, cults (and gore) this atmospheric thriller is for you!
Welcome to Millhaven, fellow traveler.
Author of So Let Them Burn and the forthcoming This Ends In Embers Kamilah Cole's WICKED ENDEAVORS, a YA romantasy duology set in a Spanish Renaissance-inspired kingdom, about a vengeful teen who cons her way into a high society of elite witches, only for her revenge to be threatened by her warring feelings for both a manipulative enemy prince and the stoic childhood friend who betrayed her, pitched as a love letter to the power of Black women's anger, to Alexandra Hightower at Little, Brown Children's, in a six-figure deal , at auction, in a two-book deal, for publication in summer 2026, by Emily Forney at BookEnds (world). ✨ YA BOOK NEWS ✨
I'm so excited to announce that my next YA duology, a romantasy called WICKED ENDEAVORS, is coming in Summer 2026!
If So Let Them Burn was about the power of love, then Wicked Endeavors is about the poisonous yet motivating power of hate. Black female rage abounds in this one 😈
If the meds weren't making my brain happy, I would definitely ask to be switched to something different! I'm sorry you're dealing with some less-than-stellar side effects though. 🖤
