Did I need to go to a Writer's Retreat this past weekend. No.
Did I regret it? Absolutely not!
Thanks to Austin Film Festival for hosting their annual Writer's Day Retreat at the beautiful Shield Ranch.

In our magazine: Palestinian artist and writer @deltahead.bsky.social is frustrated by how American fiction depicts their people. They take us from Adam Sandler to James Cameron and beyond in this visual essay ...
Hand holding up a small colorful zine called "The Unwonderful World of Comphet".
I'll be at Flamecon this weekend in NYC with my buddy @deltahead.bsky.social at table N143. It's been ages since I've done a hometown show :P #queer #art

Wrapping up the week with great news! Miss Camper made it onto the Indie Bestsellers List AND was also featured on the School Library Journal's list of "37 Exceptional Graphic Novel & Manga Titles for All Ages | SLJ 2025 Stars So Far"! So thankful for all your support during its first week!!
Today. Is. The. Day! Two years in the making, and Miss Camper has finally hit the shelves! I can't wait for y'all to read it, a story deeply personal to me as a goofy yet scared lil' camper. I hope you enjoy Miss Camper as your newest summer read and please send me your lovely camper photos!#kidlit
ONE more day until Miss Camper is officially out! Here are some more concept sketches of Sue's friends (except for their pal Alvin, whose sketch is missing😓), her sister Carmen, and new characters introduced in this book! #misscamper #kidlit #missquincesgn #booksforkids
Book day is coming up, and it's been so lovely to see Miss Camper already appearing in bookstores! I even had the pleasure of autographing my first copies at Birdhouse Books today! #misscamper #kidlit #missquincesgn #booksforkids
Just six more days until Miss Camper is released!! Here’s a preview of Sue’s summer fashion creations. After my debut book, I learned the importance of having character model sheets ready, as they’re incredibly useful for maintaining continuity! #kidlit #graphicnovels
The countdown has officially started! With only a week left until Miss Camper hits bookstore shelves, I'm sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content across social media.
Don’t forget to preorder your copy or ask your local bookstore to set one aside for you.

Three of my artworks will be featured in the virtual exhibition "Blossoms & Beyond: A virtual flower & garden show" at The City Arts Center in Round Rock, TX, from May 17-July 8, 2025. The exhibition includes 143 pieces, so check it out if you're in town! (Yes, I know I misspelled Desert Willow lol)
Throughout my life, I've struggled with self-image & understanding femininity. However, recently I've found comfort in connecting with divine feminine energy, like the Aztec goddess Xochiquétzal & Mayan goddess Ixchel. Working with them feels empowering & has reshaped my perception of femininity.
An illustration featuring a small brown dog blowing dandelions in the wind while surrounded by nopales and marigolds. There’s a smiling sun in the sky.
Since moving to Austin, I’ve been drawn to Nopales, a symbol of resilience and bittersweet transformation. Even in tough times, we’re allowed to dream. Don’t lose hope ❤️🩹
Once again, it is time to remind people who are using Duolingo to learn new languages to switch to alternatives that have qualified human teachers.
Also very gay!! 💕
The only one I can think of at the moment: Rainbow Rowell’s Simon Snow trilogy!
My message isn’t about ignoring laws, it’s about treating people w compassion. Bc even people w green cards, or work permits are still being targeted. Paperwork doesn’t guarantee protection anymore. Just ask the legal residents who’ve been swept up in raids/separated from their families.
I’m sorry you had such a frightening experience, and I can’t imagine how stressful it is to be w/o documentation. But that’s exactly the point of the comic: no one deserves to be dehumanized or criminalized just for lacking papers, especially when the system itself is broken.
