Of course. I ran out of characters. Didn't get to say all that I wanted to say.

It has been a rough time.

Yes. And his partner was my friend.

Yes - the character limit prevented me from adding them. All the medical health professionals deserve praise.

Yeah. I saw this and thought WTF???

Very difficult, yes.

Yes indeed. And quite possibly further big surgery down the track but, overall, he's doing well. The emotional stuff will be challenging.

You might remember that terrible time when my friend had a car accident on Feb 18 (that killed his partner). He was flown by chopper to the RAH and spent 9 days in a coma. Didn't think he would survive. But he did! And he will be released from hospital tomorrow. Doctors are bloody miracle workers!

They actually aren't curlews. I know people call them curlews but they are a totally different type of bird. They are stone-curlews.

April 21 is World Curlew Day.
This photo is from a few years ago when I found a small group of overwintering Far Eastern Curlews at Port Clinton, Yorke Peninsula.
Three types of โ€˜trueโ€™ curlews can be seen in Australia: the Little Curlew, Whimbrel and Far Eastern Curlew.
Gorgeous birds!

I think the original would have been more like this. Having said that, I don't think I've got any shots of a peregrine in flight quite as good as this ...

Yes, that photo has been around for many years. But I'm suspicious that it has been tilted that way to make it look more sensational. Not sure though.

A pied honeyeater in flight at Gluepot Reserve.
It was very challenging to get these shots.
He was really speedy and changed direction often.
But great to watch. He was calling the whole time.

Houston in the US? Must be a different type of heron. These herons are only found in Australasia. And, in my experience, they are extremely timid - not at all tame ๐Ÿ™‚

This was one of about half a dozen attracted in by the unusually large amount of water at Gluepot following heavy rains in March.

I'll get a cleaner. And a kabana boy. I would probably rent out a couple of bedrooms to students and get them to mow the lawn. Got it all figured out. I'd never be there anyway. I'll be away birding ๐Ÿ˜„

I turn those notifications off. I do allow emails though. They are easy to ignore.
