Do it!

Abortion bans are part of a suite of misogynistic policies, including weakening penalties or outright legalizing rape and pedophilia, the purpose of which is to strip women of agency and subject them to men's whims.

Between 1990–94 and 2015–19, the average abortion rate in countries with generally legal abortion (excluding China and India) declined by 43 percent. By contrast, in countries with severe restrictions on abortion, the average abortion rate increased by around 12 percent.

Here's the global trend from the Lancet showing the same thing. “In countries with generally legal abortion (excluding China and India), [the abortion rate] declined by 43 percent. In countries with severe restrictions, the rate increased by around 12 percent.”

The purpose of banning abortion is not to stop abortions, it's to hurt women. Women have abortions because of unwanted pregnancies. When they have medical and social support, including free contraceptives and medically grounded education, they have fewer unwanted pregnancies and fewer abortions. 1/n

Ok I just did the math quickly on that, turns out to eat an elephant it'd be a serving three times a day for 100 years. So, it is possible!

The comments in that reddit post tho, "so what if they're nazis, this is just a smear campaign" and, from the post author, "If you need to fact-check any of my claims, copy and paste the entire thing into any AI like Gemini or Claude". My god, what have we done?

That they can unironically post that photo like it's a good thing is
 well it sure is something.

I was in an anarchist group in Perth in the 80s, we leafleted warning people that Murdoch was an imminent threat to democracy. Feeling more vindicated every year.

Yikes, just went on a brief Wikihole for that family. It seems he's 3rd generation OG Nazi, like Thiel himself (and Musk).

This is an incredible idea. I doubt there's a larger industry more ripe for overturning than academic publishing.

Eugenicism, plus unintended consequences, plus upholding a stupid techno-solutionist philosophy instead of reasoning things through comprehensively.

meaningless.ai Bhante Sujato on why AI is bad and we should stop using it.

CCO just means "I won't take you to court" it doesn't mean I won't call you out for perverting the dhamna.

If you're interested, here's my writing on AI.

"Just" violence is like adding sugar to lemon juice: is it sweet or sour? Is there a point it becomes one or the other? No, there's always sweet & sour, like there's always bad kamma in killing. In defense, lives are saved, but they're also taken, and one does not cancel out the other.

Buddhism has no Just War doctrine. There's no moral point at which killing becomes "just". We understand defense as bright and dark deeds with bright and dark results.

Nonetheless, Just War doctrine offers longstanding principles for guiding the reduction of harm in war.

That's a really good point. I've seen examples in Europe that use mindful design to create public spaces that are safe for women, eg. bus stops. It'd be interesting to see what they've done in this case.

Whether it's screaming about how teen pregnancies are bad, or screaming about how teen pregnancies are good, the right has a consistent position of thinking way too much about teens having sex.

Politics is applied morality, and the Buddha had plenty to say on the topic. These guys me of certain "no politics" folks in Buddhism. Check their shrine, there's a photo of the Thai king.

SuttaCentral does not permit the use of our work in any manner by AI, per the licensing page at https://suttacentral.net/licensing:

SuttaCentral does not make use of artifically-generated data. We politely request that our content not be scraped or used in any way for the creation of datasets for generative AI or similar. This request applies to those who create applications directly, and those who build apps downstream of AI models that have scraped SuttaCentral’s data.
In addition, our translations include the following metadata prohibiting scraping:

I and my colleagues have worked for over a decade to create an accurate and readable translation of the Pali Suttas. Our work for SuttaCentral is not for profit, and we have been generous in releasing our work for the use of all sentient beings under a Creative Commons Zero dedication (CC0). At the same time, however, we have always requested that our work be used in accordance with the values and principles of the Buddhist community.
It is most certainly not in accord with Buddhist tradition to take the Buddha’s words, mutilate them in a language model, reconstitute new forms of data on a probabilistic basis, and pass off what emerges as a meaningful expression of the Buddha’s words. Make no mistake, the CC0 dedication simply means that we will not take anyone to court. It is unacceptable to use this as an excuse to appropriate my work and use it against my explicit request to create a desecration of the Buddha’s words.
Since introducing these policies, I have been contacted by several projects asking to use our work. I have refused every request. Further, VeritasChain Inc. and Mr. Tokachi Kamimura have never contacted SuttaCentral, and they do not have consent to use my translations for their commercial AI application. I request that they cease using our work immediately. Under no circumstances is any use of SuttaCentral work by AI acceptable.
	I am grateful to

Yeah, if this was him pretending to be the Buddha, we could see all the Buddhists protesting the blasphemy, and ask how many were protesting when children were torn from their families and bombs were dropped on Muslims.

I feel like Trump pretending to be a doctor is more offensive than him pretending to be Jesus. Given that doctors, like, exist.
