Hi friends! Since I was away, we got a late start on our “Dance with the Local Stars” 😬 BUT, we are working extra hard—and I think it’s going to be a blast! Please consider supporting us, not only will you be helping kids, teens and families, we need all the help we can get! 😓1/2

“I am an An American: the Wong Kim Ark Story” picturebook written by Martha brockenbrough and illustrated by Julia kuo
Wish this was an April Fools joke, but the Supreme Court heard arguments today to revoke birthright citizenship; an issue that most people decided was settled in 1898 with Wong Kim Ark. May I suggest that it might be worth looking at this book this week with your young readers?

Hi kidlit people! The publishing world is getting tougher out there; imo the best thing we can do is to lean into our own communities. Are you an Asian American kidlit creator looking for one? Well @debbi_michiko_florence and I have been trying to foster one!
See them perform Chinese Lion dances and more— get rid of all the bad mojo from the previous year and the perfect way to welcome in the spring! I’ll be there signing books, my daughter will be selling Girl Scout cookies and it supports the Boston Immigration Justice Network

I decided to change my word of the year to “Adventure” with the mindset to embrace uncomfortable things. So when , I was invited to participate in the “Dancing with the Local Stars” fundraising event for Cutchins, I agreed! 🙀😬🤣
Gundkwok is the first established all-women Chinese Lion and Dragon dance troupe in the US!
All proceeds from this show will be donated to support Massachusetts immigrant families, through Boston Immigration Justice Network (BIJAN)

Book bans harm authors and their readers in surprising and insidious ways, writes @authorgracelin.bsky.social, who explains how new legislation might help stop the spread of book banning in her home state of Massachusetts. gazettenet.com/2026/03/09/g...
A new #BookFriendsForever podcast episode is up! @authorgracelin.bsky.social is traveling, so I had two Minnesota-based editors on as guests to talk about what has been going on there. Thank you to @carolhinz.bsky.social and @andrewkarre.bsky.social for joining me! youtu.be/rA8Ep2M13kE?...
Geeking out over *the* phenomenal @authorgracelin.bsky.social, who illustrated the Children’s Book Week poster (among many things), including the spine of my middle grade novel SISTERS OF THE NEVERSEA (Heartrdum) and super excited for Children’s Book Week from May 4-May 10, 2026! #KidLit
Great piece on how book bans function (and how they've gotten worse) by @authorgracelin.bsky.social

I know this could have been done faster, but not with more love. I hope that is what reaches people.

Read @authorgracelin.bsky.social's BRINGING IN THE NEW YEAR w/our school community based special education students using a @noveleffect.bsky.social soundscape today, then used folded cupcake wrappers to create fire-breathing dragons. Love how they turned out! #SchoolLibrary #TLSky #EduSky #kidlit
