‘Incomprehensible’: birds flee and hundreds of turtles left to die after government cuts water to NSW wetlands Frogs and sheep in the Gwydir wetlands near Moree have also been bogged after WaterNSW stopped environmental flows, researchers say

“These deaths are incomprehensible, given there is environmental water sitting in the dam. This could save the turtles, but WaterNSW is just not allowing its release,"

That must be incredibly frustrating! Great that this study showed what an advantage being left handed is - psychologically as well as physically!

Happy 18th, Rohan!

If you're able to donate to his mental health fundraiser, please do! Thanks :)

Fundraising campaign flyer for dingo research and monitoring after Victoria's fires

Victoria's fires have been devastating for people & communities, & likely so too wildlife & ecosystems. I am particularly worried about Wilkerr (dingoes), which we've been studying for over 10 years. If you'd like to support our work, please visit & donate at engage.deakin.edu.au/dingofirerec...

Update: sadly Rohan’s interview has been rescheduled because of emergency bushfire broadcasting. We’ll let you know when we have the new date!

Northern Australia is extraordinary, and it’s under severe threat Right now, this region, is under siege, in large part due to insatiable corporate and government desires to ‘develop’ the North.

I love Northern Australia, and it breaks my heart what's happening and is planned for this region. More people need to know why this place is so special and what's at risk, so I wrote about it. My first article for @australiainstitute.org.au's The Point. thepoint.com.au/opinions/251...

That is impressive. A true long-time listener 🙌

As I said, it was years ago! I’m not sure how long you’ve been listening for 🤣

8 months ago 1 0 1 0

Yes absolutely - I know a few family members who would have been left-handed if allowed 😞.

This a the third time I’ve done a story on research into left-handers, but the other two were years ago. Sorry you’ve been waiting so long for another!

Thanks and yes I totally agree. We are always our own worst critics and judges! Thank you for listening and sorry to be so slow in responding. I haven’t done a good job of fitting BlueSky into my life!

He's documenting his training towards a 100km run fundraiser for Headspace Box Hill on his 18th birthday in Feb 2026. www.instagram.com/rohanbeyondt... On the same page he is also offering a running coaching service.

Dropping in to post a fangirl update about the fab @scidocmartin.bsky.social who recently presented for #DeakinRDA about 'Telling the story of your research'.

An excellent intro to research comms + the crucial deliberations that are involved. So much wisdom, never enough time. Thanks, Jen. 🤩

Thanks so much and sorry for my VERY slow response. I’m struggling to find time for BlueSky as much as it seems a great place to get to know a bit better! It was great to have you at the session.

Happens all the time! I’ve recently needed a big block of sick leave and lots of people asked me the same thing!

Oh that’s so incredibly kind! I would never say no to a handmade beanie, but full disclosure - I haven’t lost my hair during treatment so I would hate to ask for a beanie under false pretences!!!
