The Thruster toy featured a motion sensor that blared an alarm whenever something went in front of it. It's really annoying

The Thruster toy has a gimmick where in its robot mode it can grab Regular Gobot figures. This was never adapted in any Gobots media until the IDW comic where Thruster picks up the Command Center which I assume is in reference to this.

1. They fucked you up twin

2. This mistransformed catalog image of Puzzler is almost definitely where the split orange arm in his model sheet comes from when that is not an intended part of his design.

I really like how Mr. Moto is drawn here, just a little fella <3

I just realized this was probably another draft of the original idea for Machine Robo being multi-colored combining vehicles which was already shown to be a popular toy design based on any given number of toylines.

This concept probably ended with Machine Robo Commander.

Cop-Tur uses the body of RID01 Dark Scream and the head of Gaskunk.

In GID01 most of the Renegades and other villains used animal designs and Cop-Tur was one of these with him receiving a flying squirrel alt mode in reference to him being a helicopter in the original show.

Crasher uses the head and body of RID01 Skid-Z.

One of the rarer figures from GID01 is Crasher due to her design being made mostly of transparent plastic. Weirdly enough she was made a Guardian in the cartoon although no future shows kept this idea.

Villain of the Car Robo anime was a brand new character and design that had multiple different alt modes but none were a motorcycle. Thus when the toyline was imported they decided to make a character Cy-Kill so old fans had a toy of him.

Cy-Kill uses the RID 01 Sideways mold for his body and the head of RID 01 Prowl.

The toy of GID Cy-Kill was actually a remodel of an unrelated Gobots generation 2 figure brought to GID to make a toy of him since he didn't get one as part of Car Robo. Instead the main... 1/2

Thruster came with a note from Bandai warning the toy owners that the toy would distort over time and that you just kinda had to deal with that.

Pointed out by a Twitter follower, this was not a prototype of Casmodon but instead a prototype of an all new character named Hellvira who never saw the light of day. Even in Gobots, where a bunch of the prototype Devil Invaders that didnt make it to Machine Robo were brought over.

As multiple people have pointed out, Japanese fan and toy designer, @oresamakoubou was able to make it real using a 3d printer based on the prototype images and concept art; and it looks so awesome.

pretending to be Shattered Glass Bumblebee.

(Also there was a Shattered Glass Bumblebee design which was the same color as G1 Gobots Bug Bite but the far more famous design of him is black and yellow).

The figure is actually a combination of Shattered Glass Bumblebee and Bug Bite with it being identified as Shattered Glass Bumblebee and having an autobot logo but having G1 Gobots Bug Bites color scheme and the Botcon tattoos. The trading card implies he's Bug Bite... 1/2

As a fan pointed out and I think is probably correct, this was probably canceled and replaced by Machine Commander Robo since both would fulfill a similar role of being big ticket toys as well as being combining vehicles and Machine Commander Robo probably... 1/2

Something I didnt notice until making this post is that the figure of the Gobots logo in GBWiki is missing an arm. Like you can even see where on Big Sound Radio the missing arm is supposed to cover when the figure is plugged in.

As pointed out by the artist of these drawings IKY, he had originally pitched to have the G1 Gobots characters be more like their toy designs rather than the G1 Gobots designs however was forced to make this way, probably due to desire for synergy with toys and other media.

Called it

(Throwing my hat into the ring and hypothesizing the new Bug Bite will use the Devastation Bumblebee mold as reference to the Classics Bumblebee mold being used for Bug Bite's Botcon toy and Devastation Bee is inspired by that toy)

In the episode It's the Thought that Counts there's a cute detail where part of the sticker detail on the toys chest lights up to act as headlights since the show changed his design in a way where the toys headlight area is covered by his head in vehicle mode in the show.

There was a 4 part Transformers Timelines story called Spatiotemporal Challengers that continued the story of the G1 Gobots. The title page of the 3rd part, Journey's Eye includes new art of the G1 Gobots drawn in the style and poses of the G1 minibot's tech spec card art.

Hanna-Barbera gave Bolt orange eyes and eyebrows for seemingly no reason in the show.

This is a complete stretch but this potentially was done as a reference to this prototype where he had a red nose cone.

Although random unfounded design changes weren't uncommon in the show.
