The publisher of Spider-Man can't figure out how to make comics for children. They leave that to Disney or license it out to other publishers. Even DC's been doing good YA stuff for 10+ years but Marvel can't figure out how to copy them. Ooh it makes me so furious

This is not specific to yesterday's layoffs, which came from Disney, but Marvel's razor-thin margins shrink constantly, they can't hire new editors, they slash rates, they let people go…but a little long-term strategy could build a profitable YA division. They laid off their one YA editor yesterday.
Every year the data shows middle grade/YA comics are bigger than ever. Virtually every comics publisher that turns a profit does it with their MG/YA line. But Marvel, they can't be bothered. It's negligence and I'd even call it a failure of leadership. Every laid-off editor could still have a job.
this is, unironically, one of the major explainer points I hit when I talk about how Krakoa Resurrection works
COPD is what killed my father. It is a devastating disease, and it was difficult enough for someone living in relative comfort - I can’t even fathom what Tom and his family are going through. Please consider donating; they deserve a roof over their head and enough money for medical care.
DID YOU KNOW? Hero Initiative has collected ALL of Stan Lee's world famous "Stan's Soapbox" columns in one mighty volume? And it's been so popular it's in its THIRD printing? All true! Grab YOUR copy TODAY: www.heroinitiative.org/shop/books/s...
Donated. I remember being 11, a friend stopping at the comic shop on the way over for the weekend buying me the first two issues of Force Works. It looked so weird and probably helped push me to indie comics years later.
Guys like Tom shouldn't need help like this, but give if you can, because he needs it.

One of my most-wanted Marvel omnis is Force Works, a 90s Avengers comic that launched with unusual, striking artwork by Tom Tenney that stuck in my brain for 30yrs.
Tom needs our help with dealing with COPD and homelessness.
Support the creators who made the things you love.

I have a soft-spot for Apocalypse, but just because it classic crossover nonsense in the exact mode of a real comic book
Why doesn’t Batman throw the Joker into more vats of chemicals until he finds one that chemically alters him into someone who has their shit together?

A pen and marker drawing of Garfield staring in the mirror covered in lasagna sauce, recreating Bob Layton's Demon in a Bottle Iron Man cover.
A pen and marker drawing of modern Garfiels sadly walking away from a giant 1978 Garfield. It is a recreation of John Romita's Spider-Man No More cover.
I headed to Seoul as a special guest for Dice Comics Cafe's drink and draw for charity!
The theme was famous comic covers. Luckily, they had my @boom-studios.com Garfield sketch covers in stock to draw on.
Can you tell what famous covers Garf is recreating?
This is so important to articulate loudly and clearly.
Anna Peppard continues to never miss! A brilliant summation of the recent return of cheesecake! As someone who was put off from Marvel for decades due specifically to Carol’s depiction, I couldn’t agree more!
New 52 was a line-wide reboot and some fanbases never forgave what they lost in the relaunch. The Absolute characters are relieved of the burden of honoring the “true” versions of the icons, and it makes the readers more open-minded about the vast differences
Get ready, Minties!

It's finally happening.
I have a guide to Lady Death that explains EVERY SINGLE APPEARANCE she makes in these comics. Can't wait to own them all in one format!
