And while I'll admit my 702's don't have quite the bass response I'd like for this album, in every other way I love my AKGs for Tool. And for everything where I want that mid-range resolution and the way vocals are rendered.

Re-listening to Tool's "รnima" and I still don't know, after 30 years of loving it, how it's so fucking good.
Managed 22 kmh average on my ride today, which doesn't sound like much, but for being in traffic and having to slow down and stop so often, I'm cool with it.
Honestly I'd be surprised if it weren't still technically illegal in some states
I have described it exactly as such!
For me at least, though, it's the frame that's the heart of it all. If that changes, it's a different bike
Going on 11 years on this bike. Originally a parts-bin special, the only thing still intact from the original build is the frame. And the bottom bracket, somehow. Been riding fixed gear since 2004 and it's still my favorite way to ride.
Absolutely!
Suginami is an easy ride from here. Just let me know, it's a standing offer!
Decided to move some stuff around between sites so that the organization of my online presence makes a bit more sense.
It is, however, a complete and total pain in the ass. It will be worth it, but a lot of it is undoing changes I made a few years ago. Whoops ๐
When I work on writing from a park bench in the afternoon, I often have to dodge errant soccer balls. Which is fine. It's a risk I assume for the benefit of working outside.
If I work from the park on Thursday mornings, it's croquet balls.
Variety is fun.
"lens stealth rings" just a plastic ring meant to cover some of the silver metal on the end of some lenses
Enhance the aesthetics and discretion of your lens. Designed to seamlessly screw onto your lens filter thread and conceal the silver tip, it delivers a refined all-black finish that minimizes attention. Beyond its stealthy appearance, it provides some minimal protection against impacts. The accessory features a pass-through thread, allowing you to mount filters or attach your lens cap as usual, ensuring full functionality remains uncompromised. While specifically designed for the M mount version, it may also be compatible with other mount versions or lenses with the same filter thread size.
Some photographers will focus on anything but making photos.
One thing I honestly like about living in a shitty old building is that I can hear the neighbor's toddler, who is absolutely filled with joy in way that is beyond wonderful. Sometimes paper-thin walls are nice, actually.
All of this will fall apart the moment Israel resumes launching missiles.
It's not guaranteed to happen, and I hope it doesn't, but tell me: how's that ceasefire in Gaza going?
Funny how the same people don't seem to have noticed what's been happening in Gaza.

Just had to stop reading an article because I'm in bed, I want to sleep, and the article is too interesting. Either I sleep now or I read the thing and take notes on related ideas until the sun comes up again.
And a guy who was good at pacing out very long distances accurately!
It keeps getting more absurd.
Eratosthenes accurately measured the circumference of the planet 2,300 years ago. At this point he must be spinning in his grave so fast we could use him to power the whole planet
Politicians in general shouldn't be allowed to do anything that has consequences they won't personally have to deal with.

Honestly I'll still probably stand up their bikes if they fall down, but still.
Moved my track bike to a new location. It's not even a convenient location, but every time it's windy like this, everyone else's bikes go all domino and land on mine, repeatedly damaging it.
Also, from now on, I'm not picking up their bikes. Done it a hundred times if I've done it once. Fuck it.
*unappreciative
Apparently both forms are legit, but "inappreciative" peaked in usage around 1870.
It's astounding how many people can be sincerely inappreciative of someone doing their best in such a high-stakes position that's also customer-facing.
The next publication is well underway, this time a supplemental material to use with my photo walk activities. Currently, you can sign up to get early access for free, give constructive feedback, and then get the finished product when it's ready.

If you'd like some help getting used to it, I'd be happy to come meet you some time (you're Tokyo area, right?) and go over some practical things that will help keep you safe
I've ridden extensively in Japan, and for the most part I'd rather ride here than anywhere else I've lived. Cycling in traffic takes getting used to, and you have to keep your wits about you, but it's really not bad at all.
Need to take a break and also need to do some research reading, so why not in bed?
Because the cat will prevent me doing everything but my giving him affection, that's why.
As much as I love sakura season at its height, my favorite part is when it's drawing to a close. The mix of blossoms and new leaves, the snow of petals, the ephemerality of it all.
Thank you!!! I hope you enjoy it
