A photograph of a person wearing a dark suit jacket and a white blouse, adorned with multiple medals and ribbons on the left side, including a red and white ribbon with a star and a green and white ribbon with a star. The individual is also wearing earrings and is seated in front of a wooden panel with a tiled maroon background and a flag featuring a blue field with yellow and red symbols.
Sylvia Fedoruk wasn't just the first female Lt. Governor of Saskatchewan.
She was a brilliant physicist who pioneered the use of radiation to treat cancer.
On top of that, she was a Scotties champion and a member of the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame.
This is her story.

The projected cost of just one small modular reactor (SMR) equals 1/4 of Saskatchewan’s total provincial budget.
Four would be required to replace coal, costing at least a whole year of provincial revenue.
(Nuclear power plants are a notorious for huge cost overruns.) 5/
I support Alberta teachers
Sask teachers stand in solidarity with Alberta teachers. Stay strong. ✊🏼
I wish everyone in Saskatchewan understood that the amount of money being budgeted to stick it to the federal liberals by in investing in coal plants that are simply leading to climate change and should be phased out is ALSO the same amount as the budget for one year of all of healthcare.
The Land of the Living Skies showed up last night! This light show lasted over an hour.
While I was lazing in bed this morning, Dad (who was in the living room with them) told the kids to come wish me a happy Mother’s Day. The third one said, “Happy Mother’s Day! Can you come get us a snack?”
*snicker*
As an NDPer who voted Liberal, this vote split is unsurprising and devastating.
I want politics to be about a better everyday life.
Here's what that can look like:
If residents of SK want the federal gov’s attention, we need to stop being a sure thing for the CPC. If our vote is never up for grabs, all federal parties can ignore us. The CPC doesn’t need to work for our vote, & can run ignorant fools— which is why we’ve been ignored.

Saskatchewan has the highest per capita carbon emissions in Canada, 3X the Canadian average.
I’m so worried about vote splitting in SK
I think it's important to remember, with everything extremely fucked up and dumb right now, that at the root of it, fuck fuck fucking fucking fuck.
Great work digging into enrolment and staffing data in this thread!
I have not seen anyone ask a single question about how the Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition just simply refused to make himself available at a press conference to take questions when the PM resigns. Appalling.
This is maddening. 20 years ago was the best time to start modernizing our power production - then we’d have no trouble meeting the 2035 target.
The next best time is RIGHT NOW.
Please read the opening paragraph of this gentleman's obituary, which clarifies the awful legacy of our current provincial government, led by an incompetent Sask Party that is more interested in picking on the vulnerable than trying to improve health care for anyone. Scott Moe is despicable.
People often claim that scientists are soft-pedalling the issue. Here is the proof that we’re not.
Greetings from Saskatoon, where it feels like -28, the snow drifts are waist high but the trails along the river are plowed and loads of people are out biking and running and walking. Love it.
I don’t post much, but you can add me!
I’m a high school Science teacher and am trying to encourage the use of AI for Chemistry 30’s materials science research project. They have to log their AI use, check each reference for validity, and reflect on the process. I’m looking forward to the result, as restricting the use feels futile.
Thank you, and to you!
72 of 52! Discovered Romantasy and got carried away.
I know there’s data too, but anecdotally, my three kids rarely get sick when taking the Streptococcus salivarius. 1 total sick day in our family of five this school year so far (knock on wood).
Let’s see your #Bluesky photo: out for a walk in the Saskatoon Natural Grasslands with the kids.
It’s great to finally see one of three elections in the last few weeks go to the progressive female candidate! #yxe, you understood the assignment.
Congrats on your win, Darcy!
