Set Design! Taping out the set on the soundstage is one of the 1st steps we take in the initial phase of design/build of a set. Doorway sizes/placement is an important consideration. Room size is a negotiation btwn departments, mainly Art & Camera. Also space/access for crew + space for backdrops.

Production Designer Rick Carter recently lost his house along with his treasured artwork and belongings in the Palisades fire. One of the movies he designed was Forrest Gump, and he kept the bench from the movie in his backyard. The only thing that survived, relatively intact, was the famous bench.
