Birds fly over water and across a sunset sky. Text: Avian malaria: Study shows hotspots connected by bird migration. Logo: University of Georgia Odum School of Ecology

The tiniest patient: Teaching veterinarians to treat bees - Odum School of Ecology Beekeepers need a prescription when hives get sick, but few veterinarians are qualified to treat bees. A new course at UGA will change that.

Even experienced beekeepers must hire a veterinarian when they need antibiotics for their hives, but only a few vets are qualified to treat these pollinators. Professors in UGA's ecology, agriculture and veterinary medicine colleges are teaming up to train vets.
