Jason Alexander is all wrong for the twelfth Columbo it should be Abe Vigoda. Vigoda has the surly, swearing energy, but heart of gold. Alexander should be the seventh, especially in that costume.

I just had a time-warping experience. I called my CPAP supplier to update my insurance and got an AI agent, which efficiently transferred me to a human who took my new info, and then said she would fax it over to the billing department.

I didn't catch that one as I skimmed through the paper.

I skimmed because regardless of topic I usually can get the gist of a well-written scientific paper even if the details go over my head. But this one was inscrutable.

My guess (I have no knowledge of what happened) is that the paper was written with editorial help (human or AI) submitted, peer reviewed, & accepted without an abstract. Then the abstract was hurriedly written at the last minute without help from English speakers and probably non-AI autotranslators.

Yeah, the real problem is with the editors. The authors are clearly not native English speakers. While they should have sought help, the editors should never have let this get into print.

Truly terrible, but Cameron knew his demographic. I was trying to suppress laughter as the ship was sinking into the ocean of pathos when I heard what I thought was giggling from the row behind me. Then I realized it was 2 15-year-old girls sobbing.

My dad flew 26 bombing missions over Nazi-occupied Europe. He told me three war stories: 1) eating olives off a tree in in Italy; 2) "liberating" a can of fruit from the officer's mess; and 3) and on one unusual occasion telling me about hosing the remains of fellow airmen out of another B-24.

Tarmac, aka tarmacadam, is named after engineer John Loudon McAdam (1756-1836) of Ayr, Scotland.

Macadamia nuts are named after chemist, doctor and politician John Macadam (1827–1865) of Glasgow, Scotland.

It is important not to confuse the two. Dry roasted, salted tarmac makes a poor snack.
