Banshee is 100% High Pulp. Not like the show has literary aspirations but there's a great thematic throughline about identity, both lived and perceived, running throughout the series.

MIDNIGHT SPECIAL came out in that weird period before mainstream criticism widely accepted horror and genre weirdness as being in the same conversation as other great cinema and just got forgotten. If you’ve never seen it, you have a new favorite film waiting out there for you. A work of genius.
