A roseate spoonbill (a medium sized bird with pink-tinged feathers and a large spoon-shaped beak) stands in a creek amongst some greenery. A snowy egret (slightly smaller with white feathers and a black beak, not pictured are its bright yellow feet) is immediately to the viewer’s left of the spoonbill.

Today I discovered what a roseate spoonbill is! Hanging out with a snowy egret. The walking path behind our house is a trove of interesting wildlife!

A black and white mixed breed dog and a black and white Boston terrier snuggle butt to butt while sleeping sweetly on a brown recliner. They have very similar markings despite having no breed in common. Hence why we had to rescue the mutt - they matched. And then they decided they would love each other and snuggle together frequently which is so adorable it almost hurts.

The same two dogs this time on separate multi-colored paisley recliners. They are still just as cute and are looking at the camera.

I think mine are cuter together so here are two of both of them!

Oh I thought those were wings but now I see they have fingers (possibly making a peace sign?) also one of those things (maybe supposed to be soldiers?) resembled Chewbacca to me at first glance.

I worked for a large strip company (50+ locations) for 8 years and don’t recall ever hearing of OSHA visiting, though it would’ve been interesting to see what they found. Local inspectors (and other authorities) shut down clubs for various reasons though.

Happy for Hungary, if a little jealous.

One of the many Texas things they think are superior but I think are overrated. Not HEB though it’s actually good.

Do you ever go to Jaleo in Disney Springs? I may have accidentally gone twice in four days my last trip to Orlando.

I learned this as embarrassingly recently as just now!

Can you cover his ears with foil to protect them?

Reminds me of one of my favorite overheard quotes of all-time. Random lady at the chaotic CLT airport baggage claim: “Charlotte, always a shit show”

Last week when a trending post asked which song they’d play to torture you to confess to something, that song was my answer! My brain chooses to self-torture with it at least a few times a week. An ear worm for sure.

I just learned (via a Facebook post where the OP was getting destroyed for calling it a “nuisance animal”) that they have native otters 🦦 living in Lake Conroe. Only 50 miles from me…May need to relocate. The nutria living in our retention pond aren’t nearly as cute.

Same - hopefully it won’t be 20 more years before we do it again! 💙

Thanks for hosting and welcoming us! Nice to meet several people in person we’ve followed here and the other place a long time. Go Royals!

Ok agree the actual sentiment from Slotkin is crap but at least she recognizes that we need to refer to Kansas City like it’s the equivalent of a state. I never tell people I’m from Kansas (or Missouri), always just KC.

Mine too! I really hope it’s not that hot… I didn’t come all the way from Houston to melt, I can do that at home!

I’ve been following along! Thankfully my husband does the driving so I can scroll all day 😉

Missing protests today in favor of driving home to KC for the week. Hoping we may see some ongoing as we go through Oklahoma. Sadly none of the DFW-area ones were visible from the highway.

We recently bought cut pineapple since neither of us wanted to do the work to cut it ourselves. Might also have to make this (checks Amazon) $6 investment. I may already have too many gadgets but what’s one more?

I told my husband about this thread and how angry people were and he guessed it immediately. Literally laughing so hard I’m crying.

Yes there are a handful of domestic ducks (and some domestic geese) in that same pond. One set of 3-4 always with (presumably) the same male mallard, it looks like he has a harem.

We recently watched one going after a white duck, couldn’t tell if he was trying to mate? A mallard female kept dive bombing trying to separate them. Wasn’t sure if she was jealous or trying to rescue the white duck from assault.

Yeesh. Danish guy on company call this morning with quite the dig. “We are big on climate solutions here in Denmark, you should try it.”

Either that first list provided to press was incomplete or they were too stupid to realize HOU isn’t the main airport.

One of the best analogies I’ve ever heard (said about England but could be extrapolated): in the US, 100 years is a long time but a 100 miles is nothing. In the UK, 100 miles is a long way but 100 years is nothing.
