The annual pumpkin display at the entrance of Governor Pritzker’s personal residence on Astor Street. He is the pumpkin king. Illinois produces the most pumpkins, including canned, than any other state in the U.S., twice as many as the next five states combined.

not sure if this is humblebrag or simply brag, but I just did a 30-minute interview with a journalist from @franceculture.fr in French and was surprised by how well it went (not perfectly, but entirely comprehensibly); I don't know where this comes from given that sadly I never use French these days
This could make sense, but not when you've already seen it several times and decided not to interact with the post. Why keep pushing it then? The algo needs more tweaking, me thinks.
I just love seeing copies of our book out in the world! What a fantastic experience it was to write this with John @palfrey.org. I love the tone that our blended work struck.

🧵Growing outbreaks of vaccine preventable, severe disease in kids:
A grim thread
“As of Nov 9, which marks the latest data available from the CDC, there were more than 23,500 cases of whooping cough reported so far this year. That’s far and above the roughly 5,000 cases confirmed in all of 2023”

reminder to tell ppl who’ve been a positive force in your life how much you appreciate them: yesterday I had the opportunity to have coffee with my college studio art prof & tell him just how much I appreciated his Design I class (>30 yrs ago), I still think about that class, so inspiring 💙💛
still with my Aeron from over 20 years ago, whenever I'm visiting somewhere & have to use something else, I notice the difference (not good) immediately
We strongly suggest that academic publishers and other platforms that host research rapidly implement a Share to Bluesky button for their articles. Here's how:

Students working on interview projects? Have them read "Qualitative Sampling and Internet Research" by Lee Humphreys. I just reread it for a reading group yesterday and was reminded of how helpful it is for thinking about sampling with qualitative work. www.degruyter.com/document/doi...

I'm looking for studies about whether/to what extent ppl (esp of different ages) are able to detect manipulated videos, any tips?
