Star Trek (TOS) was extremely progressive for it's time and there is no getting around that. What the creator envisioned and what ended up on screen were two different things.

Ok. I'm fresh off con energy & as a woman Trekkie since the '80s I need to say this. Gene was a cheater. The studio was shitty about women and minorities in leadership roles. But Gene also wanted a woman to be the first officer. Gene wanted the bridge to represent all of the Earth.

2021 - Planned for 2020, but yeah. I am Harley Quinn from Birds of Prey in the gold diamond overalls with the pink crop top in white boots. I have the iconic Harley necklace.

2025 - Beetlejuice from the animated series. My sister was Lydia. I am in a hand painted black and white striped suit with a purple undershirt. I have a grey-green wig on and am posing as close to a Beetlejuice pose as I could think of at the time.

2022 - Me as Madeline Ashton (Meryl Streep) from Death Becomes Her. I am wearing a white satin wrap top with wide collars, a neck bracing silver necklace, donning a blonde wig, and wielding a large paper-mache shotgun.

As someone who lives in a World Cup '26 host city, I'm not sure what to expect. KC will either be complete hell for a month or us locals will get an intimate experience with the visiting teams.
