I think it's just misunderstanding between what has always been called and what is technically legal.
Good breakdown here

Well done here
"If that slight increase in stolen base success typically shows up in the middle or late innings, and you can shift even a portion of it earlier in the game, you’re creating the same kind of advantage that Trajekt provides hitters better outcomes, sooner."

Lefty batters know the bottom of the zone pretty well, even if they struggle with its lateral borders. Kody Clemens got a key overturn before hitting a sharp single tonight. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...
"Before we blame players for errors, misunderstandings, or a lack of awareness, we have to be brutally honest with ourselves about whether we’ve done enough to teach it."

"Instead of dumping video on players and hoping they figure it out, we’re tightening the feedback loop. They can see how the glove is working, how the pitch location influences movement, and how their decisions show up on film one pitch at a time."

Shameless plug:

Maybe not a hot take, but I prefer my pre-game shows to be more unscripted and more free flow conversation rather than just asking questions in a circle.
From yesterday finally able to get quality video and linked to some tagging data.
Final product allows our catchers to get quality video and feedback from the game.
"This is where priming comes in. Think of it like warming up your brain before a workout. By showing players the movement or situation before practice, we give their mind a blueprint to recognize the right movements and prepare for the skill."

"The league agrees on having a knee down.
It does not agree on which knee.
It does not agree on when.
And it certainly doesn’t seem to agree on why."

Which Knee Goes Down?

Really love this research from @jrodrigues39.bsky.social on catcher knee placement. I was asked to dig into this years ago with the Marlins, just as knees were starting to go down. It's crazy to see how much it's evolved since then!

Like the idea that you are better than your opponent but still have the patience to fight the urge to swing is a huge asset.
17 Walks in one game for Team USA to me just shows that they are willing to wear people down. Obviously Brazil was outmatched but something to continue to watch .
Do you have the search?
@tangotiger.com I can try to filter for Batter Interference but don't find any videos I get no results for that? Same for say Catchers Interference? Same for caught stealing in the Savant Search? Maybe its me?
The way that pitches move plays a part in which knee a catcher should be putting down. It would make sense to give youself some room to work. But the league is just throwing spaghetti around. Maybe its deeper than that. But. I'll probably write something at some point.
The spread is wild.
But then you look at the Dodgers. And they are almost universally left knee down.
Almost universally teams are going knee down across the board.
But when you break it down situationally from 2025 everyone seems to be guessing at what knee to put down and why?
One thing that is talked about alot is counteracting the pitch shape, but here is Arizona. Right knee down.
"This is about pride in instruction it’s about caring enough to refine how you teach, not just what you teach. It requires stepping outside of what’s comfortable, outside of what you’ve always done, and being willing to adjust in small but intentional ways."
