And helium, and sulfuric acid necessary to process Indonesia's nickel and cobalt (Indonesia is #2 producer of cobalt, after Congo)... 20% of world's sulfuric acid is from Persian Gulf producers, a third of the helium (used in MRI machines) comes from Qatar.

Because #1 producer Peru gets most of its arsenic as byproduct from copper, and exports much arsenical copper to China, much of the US 96% imports from China (for arsenic metal) is probably ultimately, but indirectly, from Peru. richardigibson.substack.com/p/orpiment-a...

Geologist/mineralogist by education (1 geophys course); 50-year+ career in gravity & magnetics. When people introduce me as a geophysicist I say "I'm really a geologist." When introduced as a geologist, I say "I work with geophysical data." They are all part of the same package to me.
I wouldn't call it the best of anything, and I don't know if it counts as pelagic/ribbon chert, but at the end of this post there's some info on wood-grain chert from the Mississippian of Montana (that you may know about already). richardigibson.substack.com/p/geology-is...
