How does anyone think the new superman is better than Cav’s?

Late to the party but sheesh that wasn’t good 😬

Protons’ security and spam detection are what initially drew me in but the extra faff around imap is a bit of a blocker for me. It also makes exporting your emails out of proton harder should you ever wish to leave. YMMV of course!

I’m in the process of doing the same comparison, I was leaning towards proton for the extra frills (vpn etc) but have decided fastmail. FMs masked email is nice (as well as a nice subdomain/+alias feature). The main killer for me was proton isn’t standard imap so requires a bridge or their apps.

I’d love to know how FAANG or similar companies treat developers with Macs and admin accounts.

Are they running admin accounts on laptops? Or elevating into admin when required? How, if so?

I’m struggling with IT giving us user accounts and any app installs/updates have to be requested 😬

Lancaster bomber at dusk

Lancaster bomber at dusk

Hornpipe. Rule, Britannia!, and who doesn’t like a little Pomp and Circumstance?

I didn’t recognise any music for the first few minutes, until it transitioned to something familiar.

So many parts you hear in tv ads, or films, or even mixed into other songs; you don’t realise they are up to hundreds of years old.

There’s always great energy on the last night.

Last night of the proms! Done and dusted for another year.

I never really knew what the proms was about until a few years ago I was driving home from an afternoon photographing a Lancaster Bomber, listening to the radio, enjoying the last light of a late summer’s eve.

I didn’t need one.

I have one.

The end.

Looking at ebuyer.com it looks like Frasers Group has intentions to rescue the brand, and no doubt the stock, but a lot of good people were let go today.

I was working hard to a promotion, finding myself on the jobless developer pile wasn’t on my bingo card.

Nothing is forever. Sad times.

We’d inherited.

These things happen, but what’s disappointing is breaking up a great team of people who got on well and genuinely enjoyed working together.

I’m still a little bit mad we only found out a few hours ago but the sad is kicking in that I won’t get to work with these people again.

First time I’ve been made redundant 😔

I work(ed) for ebuyer - the UK’s largest independent tech retailer who today has gone into administration.

We had a great tech team who worked tirelessly to not only keep things running but actively tried hard to migrate away from the numerous legacy systems

This is your reminder to: `composer audit` and `npm audit` your projects

Remember, most breaches come from known vulnerabilities. Save yourself a future headache <3

It seems to be the norm that people either get macs or at least a choice. I'm not against Linux, ran it for many years at home, but moved to mac for better software for my hobbies etc.

I just can't fathom the thinking behind making us run awful tech, what makes it worse is this is a tech retailer 😱

Interesting points, thank you! Maybe I'll raise the BYOD and see if that gets any traction.

I’d love to know people’s opinions or work policies around work issued laptops for developers.

My place is really anal about getting good MacBooks and just wants to fob people off with slightly better than budget Linux machines.

I don’t mind Linux but the context switch between home/work sucks.

What a surprise 🤣

People outraged by Israel being allowed to enter due to Gaza conflict yet get over 200 audience votes, and come 2nd.

UK get nil point, again 🤷🏻‍♂️

Boring.
