“I dislike social commentary. Like… I really hate it. When I’m reading a book, I just want to be entertained, not preached at by the author. Plus, it ruins the wonder of the story if I know the author has a political or social axe to grind. I no longer speculate about all possible outcomes of the story because I know for a fact that the universe of that book will conspire to ensure that the author’s political agenda is validated. I hate that,” Weir said. “I put no politics or social commentary into my stories at all. Anyone who thinks they see something like that is reading it in on their own. I have no point to make, and I’m not trying to affect the reader’s opinion on anything. My sole job is to entertain, and I stick to that.”
“For instance, as a lifelong Star Trek fan, it’s always bothered me that there is a presumed ‘responsibility’ within Star Trek shows to talk about social issues,” the writer added. “I just want to watch Romulans and the Federation shoot at each other.”
Ah, so Andy Weir is like... *dumb* dumb

Didn't love it but I did lol at Fujimoto committing to the bit and ending Chainsaw Man with Pochita turning to the camera and saying "I'm tired of the fame and was happier as a scrappy underdog mangaka"

The Operations Officer at Endometriosis UK is a man. Five of the seven trustees of the Endometriosis Foundation are men. No headlines about that

A big takeaway this year has to be that Sinners and One Battle After Another were big, artist driven, swings bankrolled by WB whose future is ultimately unclear. I like living in a world where people like PTA and Ryan Coogler get to make the films they want to make with those resources.

An original horror movie just won 4 Oscars, the biggest phenomenon of 2025 was an original animated movie with 4+ hit original songs, an original game was the big financial *and* critical hit of last year, and people are going gaga for THE PITT.
People crave new stuff as much as familiar stuff.

I need every single male artist that follows me to read this. It's not very long. You need to bear witness to this shit. You have to see it with your own eyes because you never will in your everyday life.
I'm serious, read it all please

‘This shouldn’t be normal’: developers speak out about bigotry on Steam, the world’s biggest PC gaming storefront
Multiple game creators describe ineffective moderation on the platform, resulting in unchecked hatred in forums and targeted campaigns of negative ‘anti-woke’ reviews
Glad to see this talked about as it's wild they let bigotry and harassment fester.
Steam is a money-printing machine; Valve's staff can work on passionate projects; and Gabe is out buying super yachts.
So there's no excuse, they've got the time/money.

Actually one thing a lot of them share is they seem to be very blatantly fake 'leftist' American profiles. Weird.

So uhh, I haven't logged on here in a while and just seen that 9 days ago I was suddenly followed by a random assortment of about 1000 users??
That seems extremely spam bot-y. Anyone else had this happen?

All of this so much.
One of my gaming pet peeves is that even the biggest subtitle sizes are too small for reading clearly off a TV screen.
(I assume because devs are mostly seeing the game on a computer monitor only ever a few feet away from them)

Itching to play more and excited to see what MachineGames do next (and with their own IP?)
Though if I were Todd Howard I'd be asking them to make a New Vegas-sized Elder Scrolls or Fallout game. I think they'd smash it and it'd save us from decades between those IP releases.

8 hours in and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is excellent.
MachineGames keep inching closer to making a full RPG/immersive sim - exploring & sneaking around the Vatican hub map reminded me of Prague in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Also, the most satisfying FPS punching ever.

@gworks.bsky.social heya, what's the best way to get notified when pre-orders go live? I only saw it was live over the weekend and then it was closed before I could do an order. ><
Thank you!

I keep forgetting that I have an account here. There's too much social media, I only have so much time in a day to waste.
