Also, have your considered including the UW's Uniter? It has great coverage of local artists and events in the city centre, and has been running for years

Local news is incredibly important. It brings so much warmth to my heart to get local newspapers dropped off on my doorstep, and it's really cool that #Winnipeg folks are working hard to make it more accessible and findable. I love my city
This is wicked! Do you happen to know if the Leaf's web version / feed also include the Streets, the West End counterpart run by the same folks (I believe??)

My game is out now on steam! Its a tough but short action game with many weapons enemies and secrets! Crunchy music, crunchy pixels, and super cheap!

Picture of the AYN Thor handheld with my game, City of None, running on it
I got my C# game compiling to android and running on the AYN Thor which is neat. Didn't require any engine changes besides how to load files (also no Audio yet but I assume FMOD has Android binaries)

when characters in 21st century TV shows or movies say, "I'm going to make breakfast," what does that even mean
toast & cereal almost make themselves
coffee, the only vital element, is not that big a deal
I give a pass to historical dramas when wood had to be hewn, water hauled, hens burgled, etc

I was asked to give my thoughts on generative AI usage in games - here they are!
Gonna start writing everything by hand and scanning it so people know my em dashes are 100% organic
I love em dashes and I will never forgive GenAI for taking them away from me
It’s so weird that not so long ago, like, less than 20 years, the progressive feminist position was gender de-segregation in sport and other male dominated spaces. Then the terfs came along and convinced the mainstream that the most progressive feminist position is that women are weak and feeble.
huh what could this be for
Itoi: Speaking of that mindset… this is a slightly different topic, but take game mechanics, for example. Let's say you have an item in the game that makes you so strong it practically breaks the game. When you look at game magazines, they talk about those items as if it's some bargain for the player. They think it's a good thing, in other words. They don't stop to think, "If you put something like this in, it's not even a game anymore." The idea that anything that gives you an advantage must be "good"—it's starting to feel a bit warped to me. Miyamoto: That's because their goal isn't to inhabit the character and enjoy the experience, it's just to beat the game. Itoi: I guess they just want to be able to say, "I won!" Miyamoto: "I finished it in three days," and all that. Itoi: Boasting about speed in games is a sickness, really.

Text explaining how there isn’t a war on cars, with all the benefits of reallocating street space to move a lot more people with a lot less space and other consequences, including life and death, pollution/emissions, public and personal costs, etc. Providing more choices works better for everyone, including drivers. And more transportation choices support the economic competitiveness of cities, as smart cities know.
I’m not a fan of politicians trying to make people angry for votes by claiming there actually IS a “war on cars” (there isn’t — if anything there’s been a war on every OTHER way of getting around since the 1960s).
A politician just made the claim on LinkedIn. Here’s the reply I posted. #UrbanTruth
Oh that's a good tip! For some reason I hadn't considered it at all for larger tracks like this. Def gonna look into how this could work in our system...
(We are using FMOD so should be pretty easy)
The next level of this would be to keep tabs on where the zone track left off and resume from there, approximately... we'll see if we need it!
Spent the morning making it so when you re-enter a zone, if no new "zone" / overworld music has played, it starts the track off in different spots.
Pretty small but really helps keep any annoyance at bay when you're going in and out of an area!
it's kinda fun zooming all the way out on big screens while editing
Red should mean stop. Full stop.

I have so many things to say about this bullshit, but my overriding reaction is “congrats, you played yourself.”
