🤔 What's the point of democratic innovation? Can it address crurrent crises and build democracies for the future?
💡In this new article @adrianbua.bsky.social and I argue that the field needs to strengthen its change-making orientation and capacity. Open access 👉🏼 journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

We ask what kind of democratic innovation can support change? Oliver had been working on the idea of a legitimacy<>capacity dyad in democratic theory, and I am immensely grateful he thought of me to help develop it!

Thanks Yanina, I am finishing up your book at the moment. Will post about it when finished ✅️
Research on #DemocraticInnovations has been mushrooming. While in Latam the focus is on how it articulates (de)democratizing trends, in Europe the mainstream focus is on particular formats (mostly) mini-publics. This 📘 goes beyond that rb.gy/vmkzio @sbussu.bsky.social @adrianbua.bsky.social #review
