I have some super exciting news to announce! Starting today, I have accepted the position of Director of Research at the Atlanta Botanical Garden! I’m so thrilled for this next adventure and so grateful for this opportunity! Here’s to the next chapter in plant conservation!!
While I was taking a break from BlueSky this letter I co-authored with Dr. Bonilla-Silva and PhD Candidate Summer Blanco was published in Science!

Apparently my former MS committee member is involved here, truly not surprised. I spent 7 years at SELU and had nothing but a horrible experience. Toxic people in a toxic place apparently 🤷♀️
Great talks from RaMP scholars @tuataratuatarae.bsky.social and Ava Joseph in this morning Systematics & Taxonomy session #Botany2025
BSA members meeting 3pm Pasadena - all members welcome! #botany2025
Hey #botany2025 make sure to check out the Disabled in Botany symposium this afternoon (1:30, Catalina)!!
Field trip participants
Desert view
I am excited to welcome #Botany2025 to my big backyard in the California desert. I kicked off the conference with a field trip up the Palm Springs tramway to explore the beautiful flora of the San Jacinto Mountains. I hope everyone enjoys Palm Springs!
Hey #botany2025 friends, is anyone going to the conference who wants to volunteer to be the "host" of the Botanists of Color affinity group meetup? The initial host can't attend the meetings :( Being host = being the contact person w/ BSA, and maybe saying a few welcome statements before event.
Coming to #Evol2025 and considering a non-academic career? Join me for our panel discussion on Friday afternoon!!
The photo is of the book the Flora of Colorado by Jennifer Ackerfield. The cover photo shows different plant communities in Colorado.
At the American Public Gardens Association in Denver meeting this week, glad I grabbed a copy of the Flora of Colorado 😍 it’s beautiful
Dang. I got a whole lab full of eBay ones for the price of one new pipet 😭
Second the rainin universal pipets. Older rainin pipet lites are so cheap on eBay, I’m annoyed that the new pipet lites are all plastic where the old ones have metal components that make them easier to service.
Yep, I’ll be there! @tuataratuatarae.bsky.social will be there too!
What a tragic loss. Shu-Mei was such a kind, incredibly smart, and truly empathetic mentor. Such a joyful person.
I’m so grateful to have known her. She so patiently walked me through my first conference poster. Later, she was a vital member of my graduate committee.
She will be so missed.
