“doujins are passion projects” -> “merch artists have no passion”
“making doujin isn’t a reliable source of income” -> “merch artists make easy money” or “merch artists should get a real job”

when we explain why we want doujins so much, ppl misinterpret those statements as judgments against what we currently have in our market. when we say “not profit-minded” they think we are calling them greedy. and that’s rly a problem of not being open, as you said.

yeah exactly. it’s not “this way is better”, both can exist. i also feel that the topic of doujins being out feelings of insecurity in artists on various fronts, and that’s why the reaction feels disproportional.

this has always been a stupid argument. yaoi is written by women for women. it is female expression and there’s no reason to trash that other than for pointless infighting.
