The 60p pint
A well-meaning idiot who keeps inadvertently stepping into trouble or situations that baffle them
Started watching Escape into Night on YouTube and was like ‘Hey, Paperhouse ripped this off’ before learning they were adapted from the same novel
I’m with Siskel on Paperhouse, btw, in that I thought it was great until it all became a bit too much (not to mention the ropey acting)
A black square background with three lines of text. At the top, the words ‘General Witchfinders’ are written in an ornate, white, gothic-style font. Below this, the word ‘HELLO’ is written in a large, bold, purple sans-serif font. At the bottom, the words ‘NEW FOLLOWERS’ are written in a smaller version of the same purple sans-serif font.

Where to begin with this. The low elbow is the most egregious aspect, true, but look how early he’s going down the wrong line at a ball pitching outside off stump and his weight transference going, well, nowhere in particular. For those in the know, he should either be striding his front-leg out to crash it through the covers or, as I would do, lean back on his back-foot and play it late, guiding it through backward point
I need to erase this horrible batting stance and technique from my memory before I can take him seriously (yes, this is very English public school boy coded, sorry)
That’s just something someone like you *would* say
😆
I was asking for this
Monty Python Argument Clinic vibes
Ah, ‘the pile’ *eyes mine guiltily*
Sublime. And deeply fucked up
Hmm, this is actually very difficult to answer. I guess the most honest answer I could give would be Star Wars: A New Hope/The Empire Strikes Back but there’s also Don’t Look Now and The Shining
A bare-chested circus performer carries a slender painted woman over his shoulders as part of a freaky dance
Lynne Frederick (later Peter Sellers’s wife and recipient of almost his whole estate) evading a pair of vampires before fucking them up
A very creepy and evil circus man of short stature with a hideous half mask
A pair of vampires tucking into a victim
Vampire Circus (Young, 1972) was tremendous fun and undoubtedly a huge influence on The League of Gentlemen
A white male (me!) on stage. I'm wearing glasses and a burgundy shirt and I'm playing a fender precision bass guitar. There's a microphone on a stand in front of me, a project screen behind me and to the left of tj picture an Ableton Push standalone on a keyboard stand. Overlaid text reads "HawaiiWorms. Dulcimer Bar. Chorlton Arts Festival. 16th May 2026"
What's that? HawaiiWorms is playing live? At the Chorlton Arts Festival? On the 16th May? And it's FREE ENTRY? Well how about that.

She’s getting there, thank you. She was going a bit stir crazy 🙏
My mum in St Mary’s picturesque cemetery
My mum peeking out behind an ancient stone carving
My mum and a man requiring a haircut in Masham market square
It was also my mum’s first trip out in nearly three weeks after she had her sternum and 13 (13!!) ribs broken as a passenger in a car accident. Lovely to see her out and about
Anglo-Saxon cross shaft dating back to the early-9th century. Vibes
A nobleman and his wife cast in stone and reclining in peace for all eternity
Cool coat of arms with winged skull that gave me Hammer feels RESURGAM
Felt Gothic, might delete later (yes, I know it’s Norman)
Saw some cool things in and around St Mary’s Church, Masham yesterday including a coat of arms with Hammer Dracula vibes and an ancient monolithic cross shaft that felt weirdly pagan
Not me having an anxiety dream about horrible partly estranged aunt dismissing the stories in my collection as ‘rushed’
A field of yellow r*pe
Post something yellow
What a splendid fellow
LOVE HIM
A beastly white and grey dog lying on his side in a garden border that would have been full of Spanish bluebells but he's made a flattened nest in them
become ungovernable,
remain incorrigible
This video promo ROCKS
And, as someone very familiar with this collection since its inception, the video very accurately reflects the tone of the superb stories
😱
I shudder at the thought of driving on or even near it
Robert Mitchum as Luke, looking cool af smoking a cigarette out of the corner of his mouth and leaning on a car
Yeah, yeah, smoking is bad but, come on, how cool does Robert Mitchum make it look in Thunder Road?
Lovely
