I'm itching to do my creative projects!!! I also want to read a lot of books, but reading is always at the very end of my to-do lists (I rarely manage to do all the "obligatory" points, let alone the "additional" ones) because of how much work I have.

Let me out of this cage!!!

Can't wait for this semester to end. I decided to not go to work in the lab, because comms make the same amount of money but in 4 times less hours. This means I'll finally have a decent amount of time for writing and personal art. 💙

I'm ~60-70% in revising/translating the first chapter and I'm very happy with its structure right now! But I hope I won't need to edit it once again before finishing the whole thing, because it is kind of painful, especially the translation part. 😭

THEY ARE and it's very good!!! I think it's common for the main projects to take longer because they are often more complex and there are more moving parts? It may be just my experience though, because more complex something is, the more often I need to stop and think and reorganize things. 😅

Congrats! And omg, you were so quick??? I may be mistaken but weren't you at 50k a few weeks ago?

In art we sometimes say it happens when your observation skills get better but art skill doesn't follow... This is an extreme version of it. 😭

It's a special kind of pain, because I have quite a lot of writing (in terms of prose and dialogue) experience in Polish and I know what I want to accomplish. But I'm not that good at writing literary works in English and I can see it, but I have no idea how to fix it.

I have mixed feelings about dialogue in English as well. I've been imagining my characters talking with English way before I started writing in English, but now that I'm actually trying—it's so hard to nail down the characters' voices because I have a very narrow range myself. At least for now.

I had dreams where I had some problems translating and I was waking up all the time, so I didn't even rest at night. 😭 I'm not super satisfied with most of the prose, but that's a problem for the future me.

I've been translating and editing the first chapter for the whole day (with lots of long breaks of course) and I'm so tired today... I didn't sleep well, so it doesn't help. At the same time I want to do it the same today because I'm so happy with how the edits are going.

I can't just leave this be, because the changes are big and I'm a writer who prefers writing in a chronological order.

I think I'll start doing the overall edits of the first few chapters so I can peacefully write the rest. Prose or lack of some descriptions is not something I want to fix in this stage, but I need to add, remove and modify the entire scenes.

THE OUTLINE IS DONE. Once again, I removed/merged so many unnecessary/problematic scenes and added a few really good ones. I removed one side arc that didn't contribute a lot to the whole story and found a way better, more efficient way to reveal one secret. <3 Very productive ~2 weeks.

It's surprisingly obvious and I've been using this in a less "self-aware" form earlier, I really recommend trying!

I switched to English at chapter VI and now I have to go back to the previous ones to make significant developmental changes (adding/removing/modifying multiple scenes), but I don't want to spend too much time on it, so I guess I'll have chapters with parts written in different languages. 😭

Also the weather is very nice. I will study for a while and go for a walk and maybe spend commission money on groceries. 🫶

I had to survive this hard week to feel good again. :) I did quantum mechanics homework quickly and most likely correctly, I figured out the background of a very important plot point, I got a lot of comm requests and I feel the creative drive. The only downside is that the weekend is only 2 days!!!

They're the worst. 😭 I also named a side character, so four things!!!

I also came up with rather satisfying names for 3 (three) things!!! A rare event (I'm bad at names).

I tried the (written) rubber duck method with the intrigue in the first act and it worked very well! All of the problems (at least the ones I noticed) have been solved and now I'm finally fully satisfied with everyone's motivations and actions, as well as political background.

I've just bought a book that's almost impossible to get for 12 PLN (~3 EUR) or even less, as it comes with another part of the series... The only listings I saw were like, 10+ times as much for a second-hand. one. It has visible marks of use but can't believe I managed to get it.

The code I wrote to calculate and plot my lab measurements back when I didn't know difference between a list and array in Python worked better than... whatever this is supposed to be.

Giggling and kicking my feet from excitement, talking about major lizard character death with someone who knows the spoilers. 🥰

Thinking about my sci-fi girlies... (the ones from the project I worked on before the lizards happened)

God forbid a woman-shaped entity has hobbies (being a dictator and not loving her children).

I think reading the actual story would help, but I don't know to what extent and I'm genuinely curious how people will receive her. She's the worst!!! But also the best!!!

"wow, you can see it's not canon" and when I asked her to elaborate she told Amarantha wouldn't care. Excuse me??? (lighthearted) Her goal is literally cleansing the world of sin. She wants to free them from the earthly suffering (and no, in her theology killing everyone would not help, lol)!!!

A few months ago I had a dream (a very cool and surprisingly internally consistent one). Not to get too specific, Amarantha's country was facing a (super)natural disaster and she did a lot to ensure her citizens remain safe (which she would do in canon too). My friend said something in lines of

Amarantha is the most misunderstood character I've ever created (at least now, as I only chat with people about her without letting anyone read the draft) and sometimes it's so funny. 😭 I said that she doesn't love her son and is an autocrat, NOT that she would happily end all life on Earth. 😭
