Let me know if you're looking for more specific than that :)

Yes! I'm really interested in your asset pipeline, sustainable workflow stuff for small teams. Your environment art workflow, texturing (I know you discuss this already in a few blogs), going back and forth between Blender and the engine, etc.

And just your art direction in general is amazing.

This is super cool. Any chance you'll write more blog posts about your process here? Truly gold info you have on your website!

It might not even be the element of chance that feels exploitative to me, but just the structural edge a casino (or software equivalent) has over the outcome. Is it unethical if it's truly random with equal weights?

Lots of unanswered questions.

So is it about whether skill or chance is the dominant factor in determining the outcome? Chess passes this easily. Slot machines fail. Poker is somewhere in the middle.

With gambling I usually picture some element of chance, and how "the house always wins." There's a lack of control, which makes it unfair.

It gets murkier introducing some chance alongside some skill. Chess is 0% luck, but many games have a bit of RNG that makes it a combo of luck and skill.

Is betting on the outcome of your own performance considered gambling?

Put another way, let's say you're playing a game of chess with a friend, and you each put $20 into the pot which will go to the winner.

Is this gambling? 🧡

AI can't write well because it was trained to produce what's expected. Great writing is never what's expected.

Even GPT-2 was more creative than today's frontier models. Every post-training constraint that improved reliability degraded creativity.

AI's limitations are human comparative advantages.

It’s so cool! I was amazed how easy the IK modifier nodes are to use when I first started playing with them.

Game is really shaping up! Do you have a sense of what the game loop is going to be, or still experimenting?

The practically universal pushback on DLSS 5 from both game developers and gamers has me feeling optimistic, and relieved that this tech isn't just being welcomed with open arms.

Realism is tired. Stylized is where it's at!

Total game changer! I use a good old fashioned alarm clock. The biggest boon for me is that my phone isn't the first thing I look at in the morning.

Going to test it out, try to find its boundaries, and see if it really is the answer to my problems.

Looks like Photopea might be my Photoshop replacement on Linux. Browser based but runs/saves everything fully locally. Has basically every feature Photoshop has that I use, + works with PSDs.

Closed source, but that's fine by me bc it doesn't use a proprietary file format, so no lock in.

Nice thanks for the insight. I haven't used substance painter much so I maybe don't know what I'm missing but I'm always game to try new tools and don't mind paying for good ones! Will explore.

Have you tried Material Maker? Open source alt to something like substance designer.

I'm a big Ucupaint user, and lately I've been learning 3DCoat to fill in Blender's texture painting shortcomings.

I'm curious about your thoughts re: combining MatPlus and Ucupaint - what does the former add to your pipeline that Ucupaint doesn't cover?

Thanks! Super clean. I have a special interest in low poly hand painted rocks haha.

Dappled lighting using light cookies - Unity Tutorial YouTube video by Stone Baked Games

Did you make this video from 3 years ago? I literally just watched it yesterday!

I was experimenting with light cookies in Godot, and didn't know about the PR to add the feature to directional lights! Super exciting.

So fantastic. The model too is so clean! I assume you're working with the Ucupaint addon for the painting?

I've been learning 3DCoat, which is this dedicated 3D hand painting software (and sculpting too, but I don't do any sculpting) which solves a lot of my gripes with Blender's texture painting.

Unrelated to the DLSS stuff, Rafael out of curiosity what project is this for? I love your hand painted skin/hair and the mid-poly look!

I need your small game recommendations!

What are people's favorite browser games on itch? I'm trying to play more tiny games ✨ to fill my creative cup, so to speak.

Your own games count too ;)
