My skin is soooooo fucked with adhesives but the more often you leave it on a long time the more likely you are to have a reaction to it so it's like a time bomb for people who get tattoos a lot

And also. Most alarmingly. Just leaving it on for a whole week after one initial wash.... it's just gross. I've healed a lot of tattoos a lot of different ways and the second skin becomes unnecessary after like 2-3 days. If you keep it moisturized after that it should heal well without scabbing.

I've seen people cover larger tattoos with it and then get blisters from the adhesive causing dermatitis, and then you're also sweating into the sealed bandage so it stings, and then when you peel it off... it takes your skin with it...

large areas of skin being in contact with potential irritants become more likely to react, smaller tattoos putting a bandage/tegaderm on it for a day or two at a time is fine esp if you're working or getting dirty but you need to still replace the bandages and wash and moisturize!

Second Skin / Tegaderm / etc aren't BAD on their own but they are pretty common to cause reactions which is why i avoid keeping them on for too long. Hydrocolloid would be fine i would think but also carries the same potential risk of contact dermatitis when kept on for too long over a large area.

LOTS of people getting contact dermatitis or worse from keeping that second skin directly on an open wound for that long.

I just watched a short where the tattoo artist suggested washing it with antibacterial soap and then slapping second skin on it for 5 days and that's how you should heal your tattoo and I just. No..... no.............

Remember that antibacterial soap is not even suggested for most post-surgical wound care. You do not need that shit for a tattoo unless it's a special case.

Tattoo artists recommending antibacterial soap for aftercare is a giant big fat red flag for me.
