Congratulations!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you :)
Someone was quite happy to leak it to The Times, though…
A paper accepted is a good way to end the day.

It's in the Times, the Daily Mail, The Australian... leave the woman alone you cretins.
It feels like Lucy Meadows all over again.
I fervently hope that Beth has someone with her to hug her and tell her she is loved, because for goodness' sake, nobody deserves this.
The absolute lack of shame for those stupid privileged pricks any their fucking court. Not to even hear from people like Beth who experience this shit all the time.
Argh, sorry, I am ranting. I am so mad. I know you know this.
It makes me so unspeakably angry that our so-called Supreme Court had the *gall* to say that they believed their decision would not remove any protections or whatever from trans people.
This is what they have allowed as fair game. By allowing any chink, this allows bigots to ram the spike in.
The tribunal literally found that she was subjected to what the judge considered harassment by the nurse for crying out loud. This woman is a victim and this is what she gets?!
It's also stalking or a violation of privacy, surely? What right do the newspapers etc. have of publishing where this poor woman is living and working?
There is a Women in Science event here later and I was scouring the campus map as the building was one I have never heard of before. It turns out not only have I been in it, I lecture in it twice weekly this term.
I think perhaps I am not fit for being out in public today.
Seconded. I can't post what I wrote exactly because I have already voted, but they have been a bright spark in a sincerely grim 12 months and I will forever be grateful for that.
I feel like it's beyond BBC complaint, surely that's actionable from a defamation perspective? Didn't Fox lose a case for exactly the same thing?
"An NHS doctor is forced to move to a country that hasn't lost its collective mind yet and is still harassed by the morons in the UK."
An idiot outsider's perspective: it would appear to suggest there will be a two-tier rights structure for trans people within the UK. To me it seems clear that the Supreme Court decision is at complete odds with this finding.
Setting up a charity for a group of people widely considered to be fine actually (even though the evidence says lol no) in this climate is probably the daftest thing Ive ever done. Also the most frustrating.
We're not fine actually. Help me change that.
For what it is worth, I would guess they will be granted permission given the novelty of the legal situation.
I think it might be very difficult or rare from my reading. But if it isn't possible, that ticks "all the domestic avenues exhausted" box for the individual claimants should they wish to sue the UK for breaching their HR.
We are looking at a painting of St Liphardus - a 6th-century lawyer, hermit and abbot in Meung-sur-Loire near Orléans, France. He is wearing bishops clothing including a surplus and mitre and is holding a crook. On a lead is a small knee high green and blue dragon.
We’re very sorry sir but you cannot bring your emotional support dragon in here.
The thing that really annoys me about all this Mandelson stuff is that the US Ambassador role was not vacant! There was already a highly qualified and competent woman in the position
And now this thing about finding a job for Starmer's ex Head of Comms?
Jobs for the Boys alive and well
If the CoA says no, I think they can appeal direct to the SC, but it would seem unlikely to succeed. But once all internal avenues have been exhausted, the individual applicants may choose to sue the UK at Strasbourg.
I may have crossed wires, though.
An article in the Times today by Kathleen Stock in which she claims, incorrectly, that ‘when the gay rights cause first got going, the ideal was toleration’.
To correct the record:
The gay rights movement I was a part of in the 1980s and 90s was not aiming for ‘toleration’.
Mere acceptance was not enough.
How would that help the isolated queer kid?
No. We wanted that child to know they would be loved and celebrated just as they were.
We’ll never be allowed back in now!
I am glad you clarified, because I really didn't need that in my search history... 😂
