THANK YOU FOR THIS.
I was already panicking.

Ah, yes. The "snarky hidden pocket square message" stage of resistance. Truly the courageous stand of a man stationed firmly near the tail end of an ethical human centipede. 🙄
Wow. Truly the act of a man stationed near the tail end of an ethical human centipede.
Know now that I will hold this grudge for at least 27 or 37 years.
I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR THAT MISTAKE!
(Did it work? I just want to be appreciated.)
I will say that I am *deeply* disappointed in some people of whom I thought better.
I'm going to have to start a spreadsheet to keep track of actors/celebrities whose work I'm boycotting...
But if you're encouraging studios/filmmakers to lean into AI, I will never give you another cent. I don't care how big you are or how big your projects are.
Maybe, but I haven't yet figured out any way to write it that doesn't completely rely on people already having read the previous books. The entire emotional core is based on a deep understanding of those events.
Blargh.
For the first time in my life, a novel idea that came to me in a dream actually turned out to be a solid idea even after I woke up (as opposed to being absolute nonsense).
And it's for a book for which there is no market, because it's a sequel to a so-so-selling series I wrapped up a decade ago. 😑
Youtuber: *talks about D&D advice*
Me (normal): This guy's got some good ideas.
Youtuber: When I was little, my parents introduced me to the Lord of the Rings films, specifically the special edition DVDs.
Me (suddenly decrepit): Fuck outta here, you fetus.
😝
I know a lot of authors have been posting "taxes were brutal, if you've been thinking of buying some of my stuff, now would be a great time" messages.
But, uh...
Taxes were brutal, and if you've been thinking of buying some of my stuff, now would be a great time. 😬
Outlook needs a specific "You've received an e-mail, but not one of the ones you're actually waiting for" alert. 😜
If you weren't constantly expressing sympathy for the numerous people he knowingly and deliberately harmed, I don't want to hear word fucking one about your sympathy for the "poor misguided" neo-Nazi.
(And if you don't know what I'm talking about, consider yourself lucky and go on about your day.)
One thing I'm seeing proposed more and more as a prophylaxis against another Trump is to ban felons from holding public office.
And this might be an unpopular opinion, but I *hate* that plan.
Here's why.
Hey, if Star Wars could go, oh, at least twenty or thirty years before focusing on yet another "Will this young Jedi be tempted to the Dark Side of the Force?" plot, that'd be just swell.
I feel I ought to clarify that I haven't yet *personally* been asked to do this.
I'm speaking to wrongheaded ideas and false conventional wisdom I've seen making the rounds online, not to any specific individual or incident.
You need only check my bibliography to see I've been using semicolons and em-dashes since long before LLMs were a thing.
If you think I'll stop using them now, to satisfy ignorant people's ideas of what delineates real writing from slop wanked out by plagiarism-machines, you can get PHUUUUUUUCKED.
Having just completed a short story draft, this is on my mind, so...
If I'd known this was coming (though of course, how could I?), I'd have published a standalone edition of my short story "In Deepest Silence" for shared synergy. 😜
it's fine
While one could certainly wish his successor wasn't himself Right-leaning, I will still happily take the vicarious victory.
Thank you, Hungary.
Changing this setting in Signal sounds like a good idea ☝️
Mine had defaulted to ‘Name, Content, and Actions’ 👎
Jarvis, a white and orange cat, sitting completely in the way between keyboard and monitor.
Fred, a small gray tabby cat, lying on the bed with a ludicrously smug expression.
Happy 10th Gotcha Day to these two little shits.
Excuse me, but I believe you mean Man-don Man-derson.
*sigh*
If your Kickstarter video/image is AI, I won't back it.
If your book has an AI cover, I won't read it.
If you're a public supporter of AI use for creative work, I will unfollow you.
I cannot stress enough how offensive I find AI use in the arts. It is outright theft, it is lazy, it is gross.
IDONWANNASPHERE (n): The portion of the story that exists above and beyond the contracted maximum length of the manuscript.
Example: "Well, that was 10K words. I've passed into the Idonwannasphere, and I'm still going."
They don't care. They literally do not care about outcomes or costs or anything unless they are personally impacted.
Which means it behooves the rest of us to find ways to make sure they *are* personally impacted. It is the *only* way to make this matter to them.
HALLOW POINT? No, that's the second in the series. HLCI was the first.
Welp, time to burn the internet.
