Q: Are there any rules regarding OC characters, provided an OC has a “home” faction? Original Characters are absolutely welcome, and the same faction rules will apply. If your OC is a member of the Golden Deer or affiliated with the Leicester Alliance, for example, their eligible ships would be with characters (OC or canon) who are members of a different faction.

And a question about original characters:

Q: How do ships between Byleth and the church staff work? Ex. When would Byleth/Shamir count and not count? Since this is in a similarly gray area to Byleth/student ships, ships between Byleth and CoS members will also be considered cross-house, since most of these characters need to be actively recruited by the player. This includes Seteth and Flayn.

Next, a question about ships between Byleth and the church staff:

Q: Would any ship with Flayn ever count, since she joins as a student? What about Seteth? While Flayn joins Byleth’s class automatically after chapter 6, this event considers her part of the Church of Seiros affiliation, as she isn’t a member of the original 8 students that make up whichever class Byleth chose. As such, most Flayn ships would be eligible! This same logic applies to Seteth, who also joins automatically in chapter 12.
