The petrol price differential between DE and LU is big. I could save money on petrol by driving a 155km round trip to fill up my car.
Of course, that's losers mathematics.
The real owner-cost cost of driving a petrol car is a about 4x the fuel cost.
(20% rise in fuel is about 5% rise in cost)

Understood.
I wonder when Google will combine all the organic, ai mode and Gemini inputs though. It's getting confusing.
Meaning...AI Mode first? The cliff-edge for organics?
No BESS, and only starting in 2028.
And then there's the Balcony Kraftwerk. This is a signal to China to dump more second-tier panels and batteries into the UK.

20 years ago, when I started my digital media business (tech blogs) my only aim was to, personally, break news.
Scaling with second-tier content was never a good brand strategy then and it's not a good strategy today.
Associate brand with leadership and make people notice by doing something new.

Fun fun on the Balcony.
Ballonkraftwerk coming to UK soon.
Neighbourhood complaints about how bad they look to follow shortly afterwards.

IMO "The overhead" is basically all the code that is deployed to 'enhance' the basic CMS thus creating throughput delay and reducing security.
The CDN route is interesting though, as is presenting raw data directly to chatbots, skipping the website
But, Google will continue to set the rules.
Buffer?
No country has a big buffer. Inflation will hit at some point because huge industries, global transport and countries still rely on petrochemicals.
And what about countries where electricity pricing is linked to gas prices? E.g UK.
As I write this I'm emptying my bath. 🛀 I often wondered how much energy I'm throwing down the drain. 2-3 kWh it turns out. That's a huge amount.
Why can't you turn a bath into hot water storage and heat radiation?
The UK has some of the most expensive electricity in the world, and a network with a huge connection backlog.
Water, for cooling, is also an expensive mess.
Whoever thought UK was going to succeed in data centres was crazy.

Are we surprised? A lot of money was spent on building these unnatural paths from seemingly normal content. The chatbots are just following those paths without any gatekeeping.

😮
Love that expression!
You are right of course.
Everyone wants to predict the future when the reality is a slow, slow development of the norm. But of course, that doesn't get clicks.
Hydrogen is an incredibly inefficient energy storage technology, but, at times like this you do realise that green hydrogen can play a role in the energy chain.
Not sure I like the idea that blue hydrogen is being classed as important for the German strategy though.
Keep them coming! (But don't give all the secrets away to LLMs for free. They will monetise your generosity.)
Pfadfinder!
Yesterday I screen-grabbed a rough 🏍️ tour plan map and asked Gemini to convert it to a route. I ended up with a detailed route and GPX file. Is it NB doing the reverse analysis in Gemini? Impressive!
Thanks for the info Chris.
If you’re putting important content in your images, and nowhere else, you’re creating a huge risk that it is missed in AI search.
Oh, and that would have been a problem for “traditional search” too.

Good real life testing.
16 years ago I tested the first Android laptop. The idea was very compelling but it was never a priority for anyone. Today it's baked into phones making the UMPC a reality, exactly 20 years after launch.

"AI humanisers" saw huge search growth in 2025. Check some of the keywords.
A bit less wild, yes. Well spotted.
Not sure why that was posted three times. The video isn't that good! ;-)
Sales guy knows I won't buy it. Haha.
This first-look review is a good one but there are about 10 available from the press launch a few weeks ago. youtu.be/dQoi3sPbeNM?...
