Graeber’s Bullshit Jobs thesis is aging quite well.

One of my favorite writers wrote about why we should keep writing ⬇️
“Writing forces people to resolve internal contradictions & confront their own bullshit. It’s why it’s hard. It’s why it’s beautiful. It’s why it leads to insight. People write to communicate but also to figure out what they think”
Be sure to read the whole thing.

I don't know how to explain to the people who pop up when creatives complain about "AI" to say there are legit uses for it just how much they sound like someone saying "Well actually fire is used to make bread" when people are talking about an organized arson ring burning down their fucking houses
"Luddites" is a good term for those who oppose AI because the Luddites weren't against *all* technology, just forms of technology that they knew would pay workers less and turn out a shittier product

The story is a woman’s decade-long digital abuse and virtual rape at the hands of her husband, involving a large number of her acquaintances and colleagues.

New rule: all David Starkey quotes are henceforth only to be read in the manner of Hugh Grant as David Starkey. Instant improvement.

Omg yes 💯 the way my eyes rolled right back in my head when I read that
Another day, another “uncovered” archive.
The materials “have been stored in Cambridge University’s herbarium for nearly 200 years.”
The course sounds great, but this Indiana Jones framing and erasure of archivists’ work is getting really tired.

NEW: For the first time, ProPublica has been able to quantify how many U.S. citizen children have been directly affected by Trump’s immigration crackdown: more than 11,000 kids had a parent detained — and that’s an undercount. 1/ 🧵
