Yeah, that kinda makes me want to create / illustrate one myself.

Is it weird that it makes me want to try my hand at sculpture?

MOAR BLORBS!
I love working from what I call ‘blorbs’. I am a huge fan of the artist BriksLovesYou (www.instagram.com/br...) and all of their work. Watching them work has been really inspirational, and lead directly to me enjoying creating images like this!
Ever considered running D&D for your kids? Don't think they'll stay focused? Here are a few suggestions for keeping kids focused on the game.
*How many times did I say "focus"?
Too many
DnD plot hook from a 9 year old: The wine cellar of the castle has a secret door to the tomb of a long dead prince who was mummified after his assassination.
Easy way to get in a small dungeon crawl… which can always lead to a much longer dungeon crawl.
Four different stages of the Milly Tealeaf original character illustration by mrlich. From left to right, the stages are sketch, inks, color flats, and color render.
Have you met Milly yet?
Milly Tealeaf is a halfling blacksmith known for her skill with detailed & precision work. She can shoe your horse, but any blacksmith’s apprentice can do that! People say she can work a signature into the tip of your hat pin!

Annnnd this kinda made my afternoon...
I really love these.
Of course! If there's anything else I can help with, let me know. :)
Of course!
You got it. :)
So your PCs need to mix a potion. Guess you'll just roll a skill check, and poof, it's done or it's not.
What if there was a better way to go about it? What if your players could actually demonstrate some interest in the process?
Check this out (FREE!):
Huh. I’m unfamiliar. Will have to check it out. Thanks!
Ahhh. I see. May I ask what system?
Bottom line: you can use specialized mapping programs, but I generally don’t recommend it for most folks. It’s too much fun to make the map yourself (not to mention helping you retain more of the info).
But whatever you choose, I hope it works out well for you.
Good luck!

Also, I’m working on a video showing folks how to make some kinds of ( good looking ) maps without needing to be “artistically inclined”.
There are high quality artists making amazing maps, but not every map needs to be THAT level.
I’ll try to remember to ping you when that’s ready.

You mentioned already having some that you would like to put a hex grid on. I’ve got your back.
I have a blog post (it’s on Patreon, but it’s free / public, I believe) where I created some transparent hex grids and I give them away for folks to use for free.

Well, generally, when folks are in your position, I recommend NOT using specific map creation software since it is, by its nature, restrictive.
If you’re comfortable using something like GIMP, Krita, or any of the other image editing programs I feel you’re able to do SO much more.

There are many good options.
2 questions:
1. What platform are you working on? (Windows, Android, iOS, etc)
2. How comfortable are you with the idea of freeform creation? (Meaning: would you be comfortable working from scratch?)
And / or here.
Why not set up a game online and offer it via one of the Reddit subs?
Nice. Has a good feel to it.
You madman!
black and white pencil sketch of a map or landscape in a tarot card proportion, depicting a fragmented land with big stone slabs open up to a ravine below. It as a long stone stairwair going down, a strange crystal palace, some trees and desert-like terrain, a giant anthill, a river cascading to the ravine below and a pool on a floating islet, containing a giant, desperate eel that doesn't fit well in the pool.
The pencil sketch for one of the maps/cards I did for @unwrittenearths.bsky.social's Swords Without master with art direction by @portablecity.bsky.social.
Had a blast making these :D

Lovely work, as always!
I once joined a group where I knew no one. It was awkward at first, but that’s always true when I meet new people and we are all doing the “getting to know you dance”. After that? It’s just playing with new friends.
Give it a go. Worst case scenario? You don’t like it and you move on.
Good luck!
