The audio tours for medieval castles should have a separate channel for people who are not complete idiots, who want to hear a deadpan description of the history of each room with absolutely no struggling actors hamming it up pretending to be a nobleman or a lowly washerwoman.
Brian Hibbard
Hi folks. This is a long shot. I have a vague memory of a BBC Wales show for emerging talent, fronted by the late great Brian Hibbard (pictured). I can find no information on it. All I can tell you is that it was semi dramatised to make the most of Hibbard's comic talents. Any ideas?

Happy St. George's Day to Y Saes, but for those of us with a literary bent Happy Shakespeare born/died day. To celebrate here is the sickest burn in the Bard's work:

Aaron: Villain – I have done thy mother.

I stand corrected. Thank you. Mind you there's been a lot of him about today, plus stuff on the telly later. This is a great track though isn't it? I find it utterly glorious every single time.
It's also 10 years to the day since Prince left us. I don't know which is worse: that fate robbed us of his mercurial talent or that it's a decade since. Anyway, two legends. And as Andy didn't make a record here's one from the other fella's Love Symbol/NPG period.

We lost the great DJ Andy Kershaw today. He had is fair share of problems. Andy, however, introduced me to the wonders of international music via his Radio 1 show.

Not once in the 80s, 90s or 00s do I recall a politician urging the public to embrace email, mobile phones, texting, two factor authentication, online banking, air fryers, or to replace all their cassette collection with a CD collection.
So forgive me if I smell a rat.

In public, Wes Streeting is furiously back-pedaling from his earlier Palantir cheerleading.
But in private he is refusing to let us see what civil servants told him about Palantir
So, with @petergeoghegan.bsky.social, we are taking him to court to try and force him to hand over the briefings.
A clarification for non-UK residents. Our PM is as bland as a 1970s middle-of-the-road top 30 pop hit called something like "That Old Time Jug Band Rag" and was danced to by Legs & Co on Top Of The Pops. His 'Furious' is probably flushing a bit red and ruffling his quiff.

I remember buying a best of Clannad out of Woolies back in the late 80s. I played it a lot at the time but soon moved on to other things and forgot about it. It all came flooding back however on hearing about Moya Brennan's death on the news just now.

Always been in awe of the unassailable capitalist logic of privatisation ever since they sold BT and British Gas and the water and the trains and all the rest of it.
Everything was ours
And they sold it all
To us
And we bought it
Then suddenly
We didn't own it anymore.
Genius.
