An emotionally challenging & also proud moment:

The MN House unanimously voted to rename MN's community solar garden (CSG) program after Speaker Emerita Hortman.

She authored the 2013 CSG bill, which caused solar to grow from 1 MW to over 3 GW today.

Just one example of the good she did for MN.💔

Lawmaker, husband ride e-bike to, and from, baby’s delivery Rep. Katie Jones, a Minneapolis Democrat, and her husband, Peter Schmitt, pedaled to the hospital before and after their son was born.

In Minnesota, we're creating infrastructure to make people feel safe. Everyone should feel included- even baby Hans. 🥰

We all deserve the freedom to feel and be safe in our communities.

This isn't about politics - it's about people.

I hope my colleagues on the other side of the aisle will find the courage to do the right thing.

Did you know over 40% (!) of Minnesota’s two-year college students reported experiencing food insecurity? Grateful for the work our constituents with LEAD Minnesota are doing to address hunger on college campuses.

In Minnesota, we take care of each other.

The love our neighbors have shown for each other during the unconstitutional action of the federal government is a model for the country to follow.

Our bills to hold ICE accountable are rooted in that love and care.

Minnesotans deserve comprehensive, quality health care.
Glad to meet w/ Minneapolis Ophthalmologists from our district to discuss state solutions to critical funding cuts causing clinic closures. Increased patient demand & the impact of immigration policies are significantly limiting access to care.

Speaker Hortman’s legacy is one of visionary leadership & lasting change. She worked tirelessly to make Minnesota a better state for everyone. Her love for MN, community, & her family ran deep. Her presence will be missed. Let's keep working together to carry on Melissa's legacy. #LFG. #mnleg

DFL legislators: Here’s what we can do to hold ICE accountable We intend to establish a right for Minnesotans to sue for civil and monetary damages for constitutional violations, several state legislators write.

ICE actions continue to be dangerous and unconstitutional, violating free speech and civil rights.

Read my op ed with @SenatorChampion and @OmarFatehMN on our plan to let Minnesotans sue for civil damages when their rights are violated.

ICE agents are trampling on the civil and constitutional rights of Minnesotans every day. Enough is enough.

DFL Rep. Jamie Long just announced that he’s authoring legislation that would establish a right for Minnesotans to sue federal officers for constitutional rights violations.

Inside Minnesota Hospitals, ICE Agents Unnerve Staff As federal agents swarm the Twin Cities, their presence has also grown in medical centers. Health care workers are pushing back.

Last week, a constituent contacted me about a patient at HCMC w/ ICE presence in private care spaces. I got there at midnight, talked to staff, & learned ICE had no judicial warrant yet would not leave. HCMC staff could not compel them to go. This is unacceptable. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/19/u...

Attendance drops at Minnesota schools as federal immigration enforcement intensifies anxieties More Twin Cities schools are offering online learning as worry rises over the surge in ICE activity, especially after a parent was detained at their child’s schoolbus stop Wednesday in Crystal.

MN kids' education is being disrupted across the state b/c of Operation Metro Surge.

This is not inevitable. It's the result of a policy choice from the Trump's admin.

ICE needs to leave. We deserve better for our kids & communities.

Trump spreading lies about Melissa Hortman’s assassination - just why? To what end? Other than to show how low he can go?

There is zero validity in what he’s peddling, and it’s unacceptable for any leader to hawk such BS.

Minneapolis Public Housing Authority
Minneapolis Public Housing Authority Two properties and two very different stories of public housing in Minneapolis. #ad

MN is short over 100,000 homes, incl. affordable housing, dignified housing, & homes that a Minnesotan earning an average wage can rent/buy.

To solve this, we need multiple approaches:
-supply ⬆️
-public/social housing 💰

Mpls shows a path. Now, let's go statewide.

Now more than ever is the time to get your sambusa or taco fix and support our immigrant-owned businesses!

Federal attacks on our immigrant community have instilled fear, reduced business traffic, and have put vibrant businesses at risk.

WE have power to help keep them afloat.

Met Council members oversee Twin Cities transit, but rarely ride it In the last year, just half of those appointed to the Metropolitan Council have taken advantage of the free Metro Transit rides that come with their job.

Taking transit impacts one's leadership of it.

Just as we tour fire stations & water treatment plants, electeds should learn how transit works & FEELS in person. Otherwise it's hard to grasp what safety, the human connection, or a missed transfer means to riders.
