In the past week gas has increased by .30¢. In the last month its increased by $1.09. Today House Democrats called for a gas tax holiday to be added to the budget. Instead of doubling Lee’s voucher program, the money for that scam can be used for at least 2 months of gas tax relief for Tennesseans
While House Dems are focused on lowering the $$ of groceries different ways- Republicans are proposing a bill to increase the tax to 7%- nearly double what it is now. The GOP continue to bend to the will of billionaires and corporations and Tennessee families are paying the price
And that “not a lot of money for the [rich] folks we’re trying to serve”? It’s nearly $300 million of working families taxes.
We’ve been saying for years that Lee’s voucher scam is welfare for the wealthy- and now Republicans are saying the quiet part out loud. It was never about “choice” or helping families- it’s always been about subsidizing the rich on the taxpayers dime.

When Rep. Sam McKenzie asked how many students were already in private school before applying for Lee’s voucher scam, the answer was “don’t know, don’t care.” TN tax payers deserve to know how many wealthy families are sending their kids to private school on the tax payers dime

“Pro-life” party unless you’re a woman in TN. TN women already face among the highest maternal mortality rates in the country, and now a bill has been filed to criminalize women who seek abortions. HB570 has the potential to charge these women with murder; a death penalty offense
