I’m glad to see Illinois join other states in passing right-to-die legislation. That said, it's cruel that these laws only consider terminal illness and ignore quality-of-life realities. Many people living with irreversible suffering are still left without meaningful autonomy.

I don't think that's necessarily true. The main exemptions are homeowner, disabilities, seniors and veterans (and combinations of those). Most people probably have those exemptions correct, and appealing the assessed value successfully can have a decent impact on your tax bill.

ICEholes are kidnapping kids & snatching parents around schools now. Lots of increased activity around Lane. If you live nearby & want to help cover short shifts, follow the info in this flier to sign up. Also reach out to schools near where you live to see if they might be doing something similar.

This link seems to be dead. Maybe Sticker Mule sent a mob to the poster...or...link needs updating?

ICEBlock - See Something, Tap Something

Hey Chicago, whata you say...don't forget to report ICE today (and tomorrow and wherever they invade our city). There's an app for that. www.iceblock.app

I don’t unfortunately. I was pretty happy with WEX but my employer (CPS) changed to HSA Bank. On our union’s FB group, 100% of the comments about HSAB are negative. Not a single person has said they like it (that I’ve seen).

Never a single problem with WEX, then Chi Pub Schools went to HSA Bank and they fucking SUUUUCK. Requesting receipts then denying debit card swipes made literally at the hospital…for surgery. They’re 100% running a scam.

I hope all C-Suite executives at HSA Bank get non-life-threatening but very uncomfortable food poisoning today.

About a month ago while on a cruise I got caught in the middle of a police foot chase while turning right. Dude was laughing the whole time. Then today this video was posted on a chicago news / crime site and a friend sent it to me like "isn't that you bro?" I'm the dude in the 64 'bird.

Went to Weiner Circle to get my dad some color commentary but will try the others next. Thanks for the tips!

Was looking at Devil Dawgs cause it’s got decent reviews and is close by. Haven’t been there though.

Chicago fam...where on the North Side can a vegetarian take a non-vegetarian for a great Chi-style dog with good options for both?

I forgot to take care of something I told my wife I would do. It’s Coldplay’s fault.

Nothin classier than telling the world you like working with a known child rapist.

I'm not sure where else to yell this, but HSA Bank suuuuucks. If your employer uses it for HSA and Flex Spending accounts, and you want to commiserate over whiskey, the first one is on me.

"Pretty adventurous guy. Been skydiving...dabbled in Numbers."

100% my exact use case. I open it, I get angry that nothing works the way I want, I close it, I import to Sheets, then I get my shit done.

Are there really people out there that use Numbers instead of Sheets or Excel?

The vendor / procurement system in Chicago Public Schools is a scam, no one seem to care, and we're all paying for it.

Two examples from first-hand experience, exact same items:

Cheapest possible office chair
Vendor $360
Non-Vendor $120

Vertical file holder
Vendor $470
Non-vendor $190

One of our students has been without a working phone since October, and unfortunately, her family is not in a position to replace it at this time. Last week she was followed & harassed on her way home and was unable to call for help. Anyone have an unlocked / T-Mobile-compatible phone to donate?

Trump gets a $400M quid pro plane and I have to give back a $51 gift card as a Chicago Public School teacher. Cool. Cool.

I preemptively apologize for using this term, but the "vibe coding" I've done has been pretty fun. Using AI to modify lesson plans / project manuals and make them clearer and more concise has been helpful. Claude for coding, ChatGPT for quick answers, Gemini for constant disappointment.

Sometimes I feel like Gemini is just a long running April fools joke from Google.
