Copy of the Atomic Pioneer medal Nixon gave to Groves, Conant and V. Bush in 1975. Set in acrylic designed by Charles Caldwell/ORNL. I've never seen one and info was hard to find. Anyone know what the copies were for? @wellerstein.bsky.social @conelrad6401240.bsky.social @atomicanalyst.bsky.social

A paperweight with what appears to be a copy of the Atomic Pioneer medal presented in 1975 and designed by Charles Caldwell of ORNL.

My trinitite is 80 years old today. ☢️ The first atomic bomb was tested in New Mexico-code named Trinity.

Issued in 1945 this Society of Medalists medal appears to be needed 80 years on.
