I've had the good fortune to interact with Sherrod Brown a couple times and he is The Real Deal as far as I'm concerned.
So glad he's in this race and hopeful he can make it back to the Senate.

The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”
Child: I know your name. Mamdani.
Obama: What’s his first name?
Child: Mayor.
Efforts to defeat Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s push for higher taxes on the wealthy and corporations have led to stories predicting companies would flee New York.
But the numbers tell a different story.
Remarkable SCOTUS reporting in the NYTimes, which pretty much confirms what observers have always assumed, but still astonishes. (Gift link)

Remember when Trump threatened to wipe out a whole civilization? And then backed out of that and talked about forming a deal with Iran? And then dropped that and went to a UFC fight as negotiations fell apart? And then unveiled a triumphal arch and a photo of himself as Jesus?
That was this week.
But there is just so much of it, and I'm tired. Because I write about this, I get told a lot of stuff in private, so I carry that too. I'm so tired of rapists. I'm so tired of rape culture. I'm so tired of the dehumanization of girls and women.
The plan to demonize creativity, the arts and entrepreneurship while simultaneously shoving AI products down our throats that seemingly make 99% of things worse isn't going to work. We need the robots do the laundry while the people make stuff robots can't dream of. That's a good future.
A very strong thread about what good journalists do. I urge people to read the whole CNN story (linked earlier), not just the headline. A lot of people who are unwisely leaning into "I dunno, there's something fishy about this" might change their minds.
I hate this with every fiber of my being. And having the students be the face/voice of it also is just so appalling when it's being pushed by corporate interests and when they don't even know what it is they're losing by having this foisted upon them.
Another beautiful Easter message from the President who loves Jesus with all his heart and soul.
Yes to Pittsburgh and Detroit. Lived in both. Loved each place.
Throwing the F-bombs on Easter, like Jesus would do. And yes, I checked — this is real. This screenshot is from TruthSocial.
THANK YOU. (Native Toledoan here. 👋🏼)
Aww, this makes me sad. I’m a native Toledoan and have fond memories of growing up there. Yet I live on the west coast now…
Listen, I know there’s a lot of horrible shit done in the name of Catholicism, but this guy is really trolling the JD Vances and other weirdos who claim to be religious and ignore the basic tenants
Washington state passed a tax on millionaires. A lot of the usual suspects have been screaming & tearing their hair out & warning of apocalypse.
But the actual rich people of Washington? Turns out they are mostly Democrats & they mostly support it!
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico jury finds Meta's platforms are harmful to children's mental health and imposes $375 million penalty.
Here we go again.

U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez scored lower than all but one House Democrat in the League of Conservation Voters’ most recent congressional scorecard.
Omg YES. Nailed it!
We sent 4 records requests to the Education Department — the first more than a year ago — seeking the status of school investigations, findings of discrimination reversed under Trump and more.
The agency gave no response except to acknowledge it received them.
So incredibly deserved.
I know that I sound like a broken record but I think once this society was ok with accepting mass covid deaths just to be able to eat at Applebees then all bets were off.
Truest comment on the internet. 👍🏼
"They were girls who went to school to learn, with hopes and dreams for their future," Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai said. "Today, their lives were brutally cut short.”
