I don't feel quite as old knowing there are still Brady Bunch references still in use!

Looks like I picked the wrong year to get back into international education...

Worked in one for 8 months after COVID wiped out my white collar job. Not for the faint of heart!

My kids asked when I thought I'd retire and I told them most likely when they hit the "fry" button in the crematorium haha.

When you are hoping for a snow day but get a 10AM start instead it’s a lot like winning a free scratch off ticket. It’s a bit better than nothing but still basically worthless overall. ;-)

Seeing the line of men at the gas station buying single roses this morning makes me think that some of you folks are realy gonna have a lovely Valentines Day today...;-)

Sure, it’s easy to get caught up in all the festivities on a day like today, but sometimes you have to stop and ask the tough question. What exactly is the CTE Protocol for Puppy Bowl?

Crazy thing, thats how I found out that a cousin of mine died. we don't really talk much with their side but I always liked her and would at least wish her a happy birthday...Went there to do so and started reading the comments...oops!

Every time in my life I’ve been told I’d have to suffer to make things better has one common denominator……the asshole telling me that ain’t the one who will be suffering along with me.

Good analogy, I was picturing my aunt's little cigarette purse with the dull brass and cracked leathery exterior.

If you have to tell someone that you are something, you probably aren’t.

"Why are you breathing so loud?! Could you go in the other room and breathe?"

Such a mystery how we continue to fail despite these great strategies!

Yellowstone spinoff with Rip and Beth. Hear me out on this, they start a “Fixer-Upper” show but Beth is always drunk and berates the clients and Rip occasionally has more than he can stand and takes them to the “Train Station”. Oh, and at least one random barrel racer raising hell each episode..

Cheers from The Velvet Ditch in Oxford, MS! Have a great weekend y’all!

A cool thing about working with international students is seeing them go on and do well in their careers. Several years ago I was able to tour the Voice of America studio. Two of our students were broadcasters there. Sad to see now that election denying dirtbag Kari Lake will be put in charge of it.

We see one in Oxford occasionally. When we do our whole family laughs uproariously and yell "there goes the dumbfuck in the dumpster!"

23 degrees in the Velvet Ditch this morning...WTF! May need to go even farther south...

Well, we took 110 intl students to the Grizzlies game last night, and actually returned with all of them! Lotta fun, my Yuki shirt arrived just before we left so was good to go. Despite the crowd chanting "We want Yuki" he didnt get in. The shirt was a big hit with our Japanese students, though!

Yep, I am one of them. No worries, will catch up when its fixed!

So I've worked in international education most of my career. Each year there is a report called Open Doors that tracks the economic impact that students and their families provide economically to the US. This past year international students contributed 43.8 Billion dollars to the US economy.

When things were bad, this guy never gave up. It’s nice to have this reminder each time I walk across campus. Don’t give up.

I cant recall anything I've read that touched me so much. Thank you.
