Very similar age here, and it's wild what used to be said in normal conversation

The point here being that certain slurs were, sadly and unacceptably, normal speech in some places back then and an alarming amount of people refuse to see and adapt to the fact that they were always awful

As a (barely) gen X, it's wild how many of my schoolmates went from soft left/centrist to extreme right for the basic reason that slurs they used to use in the 80's/90s aren't acceptable now
