Restored medieval Long Stairs to get official opening Once overgrown and neglected, a set of steps unused for 100 years has been repaired by volunteers.

The city was built on two hills, and a network of ancient walkways allowed people to navigate the cliffs and steep slopes for hundreds of years.

Long Stairs, in the Lace Market, linked High Pavement with Narrow Marsh, but was shut and partially destroyed when the slum area was cleared in the 1930s.

We can't afford private healthcare. I worked for BUPA, it's not cheap, small bills are when you're 30, each year it rises. If you have pre-existing condition you pay, if you exceed their limits, you pay. You can expect bills in the thousands, I can't afford that, can you?
