Lovely review of @bloomsburylit.bsky.social 'The Irish Proust' in the Irish Times, which is 'a strange but enthralling exploration of the unexpected origins of modernism in Ireland': www.irishtimes.com/culture/book...

Just got in to the #BSLS2026 conference after a LONG and very interrupted and delayed journey. Feels good to be back in Glasgow. Come see me!
This is a caveat worth making, but I also agree entirely with the emoji!

Totally agree, the last thing we need is more division! And I am forever thankful to have you as a collaborator. Cracking article and absolutely on the money.
I don't see this said enough: the widespread use of generative AI is not only making our jobs as educators harder logistically, but also emotionally. It is genuinely sad to be suspicious of students when you have spent so much time building a pedagogy based on trust and not being a cop. It sucks.
HUGE congratulations to @bloomsburylit.bsky.social author Eleanor Careless, whose book has been shortlisted for the University English book prize! universityenglish.ac.uk/university-e...

The annual observance marks how far into the new year women must work to make what men earned in the previous year. This year, it's March 26, a day later than it was in 2025. n.pr/4t9rLqU

Up on the Bloomsbury website at last: Carole Boyce Davies, Bibi Bakare-Yusuf, Janell Hobson,Angelique V. Nixon and Christen A. Smith's 'Black Feminist Theories' will be a hugely significant book. Plus it'll be publishing in paperback, which is great too!

Wrote about @samcohen.bsky.social’s book banning volume for @lareviewofbooks.bsky.social. The volume invites us to consider why books matter—and it shows the many ways they’re under attack, even here in progressive NYC.

The folks at @standard.co.uk.web.brid.gy asked me to report from the floor of #MWC26. There were foldable phones, massive stands, and a hell of a lot of humanoids. Read my take here www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/mo...
Vonnegut wrote Slaughterhouse Five to come to grips with the horrors he witnessed before and after the bombing of Dresden. And the big through line is those in favor of war have never experienced the cruelty, dehumanization or casual brutality of it. This mfer wouldn’t last a minute.
Amidst the usual stream of horror and sadness, this brightened up my morning www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
They had names. They had beautiful faces. And they had the same dreams as your kids - crushed when American "precision" bombs slammed into their Minab elementary school, killing 175
Don't blame AI for this. Blame the sick humans who see war as a game

I think one of the most staggering industry shifts in my 16 years as a tech reporter is that it’s not become a question of “should our product help the government kill and/or surveil people?” but “to what extent?”

If you're thinking about heading to #MLA27, there are several session calls I'm involved with that could be of interest to DH, electronic literature, and games folks: first up, the MLA Committee on Information Technology has calls on AI in DH & language pedagogy: mla.confex.com/mla/2027/web... Literally the first thing academics pointed out about LLMs YEARS AGO was that they would be used for catastrophic levels of fraud—how nice that now the AI bros are confirming what we all knew by running fraud experiments to tell cheats which LLM to use to cheat
Another good news year for Bloomsbury Open Collections!
