The Value of Critical Thinking: Humanities in a Technological Era A liberal arts education is often derided, but the humanities promote the kind of critical thinking that’s needed in an AI world.

Totally agree, the last thing we need is more division! And I am forever thankful to have you as a collaborator. Cracking article and absolutely on the money.

I don't see this said enough: the widespread use of generative AI is not only making our jobs as educators harder logistically, but also emotionally. It is genuinely sad to be suspicious of students when you have spent so much time building a pedagogy based on trust and not being a cop. It sucks.

Time-Wasting, Truth-Wasting Exercises | Los Angeles Review of Books Samuel Cohen’s anthology on book banning diagnoses a recent swell in censorship that’s problematic for more reasons than you’d think.

Wrote about @samcohen.bsky.social’s book banning volume for @lareviewofbooks.bsky.social. The volume invites us to consider why books matter—and it shows the many ways they’re under attack, even here in progressive NYC.

Vonnegut wrote Slaughterhouse Five to come to grips with the horrors he witnessed before and after the bombing of Dresden. And the big through line is those in favor of war have never experienced the cruelty, dehumanization or casual brutality of it. This mfer wouldn’t last a minute.

AI error or not, Iran school bombing is a permanent stain on America’s soul | Will Bunch A debate on AI in warfare obscures the truth about an Iran school bombing. U.S. humans are to blame for this war crime.

They had names. They had beautiful faces. And they had the same dreams as your kids - crushed when American "precision" bombs slammed into their Minab elementary school, killing 175

Don't blame AI for this. Blame the sick humans who see war as a game
