Gosh yes, that whole trilogy was so great
I more often say "fourth of May". I can certainly see how American spoken and written go together!
Group chat is currently just wall to wall Angine de Poitrine fanboying π

Eeeeee YAY! π₯³
I'm assured by writer friends that one good thing you can do to support them is to buy not just new releases but explore their backlists.
Read SF/fantasy? Like queer stuff? I am part way through a project looking at great queer SFF from the 2020s.
2021 is here, and... 1/2
They're on my list, but of course no local libraries have them. Yet. I might see what I can request! (Also added to my e-tbr for consideration next time I'm buying.)
Hey, you are right and you should say it. π
They're scared of dropbears. Or the postage costs...
in the land of hollaback, where the hips don't lie
I literally sang along π
The level of excitement I have about getting to see Clipping in June is mildly ridiculous, but hey, I take the joy where I can get it these days!
LOVE IT!
Excellent, my timing is exquisite π
First Mage On The Moon by Cameron Johnston. Against a twilight blue background, a rusty magical rocketship readies for launch, with engineering diagrams off to the side.
Happy Launch Day to me!
First Mage On The Moon is out today.
Just finished THE SUN BLESSED PRINCE by @lindseybyrd.bsky.social, and what a fantastic book! A stark premise that really digs into its philosophical, ethical, cultural underpinnings; twisty politics; and a desperate core of kindness. I enjoyed it so much! www.lindseybyrd.com/about-1
Well that was just as ridiculous as I remembered. Banging soundtrack though! Love being reminded that Killing Joke's Death and Resurrection Show exists: youtu.be/TpduRWtzpWk?...
Through a separately hilarious conversation with my beloved Mister about Taylor Kitsch, I have been reminded of the existence of the 2006 movie "The Covenant" and turns out it's streaming on a service we already have so I guess that's my Saturday night plans sorted! π
Swinton's Gabriel stepping on Constantine's throat has Stayed With Me.
Amaaaaaazing! Congratulations! π₯³
A black butterfly with white and purple spots hitching a ride on a green straw hat.
We acquired a stowaway in the butterfly house...
So true, and I assume it's like the "grown-up" covers on the Potter or Pratchett books. It's so people who feel embarrassed by the exciting covers might read the books. I appreciate the desire to find more readers, but what about the readers who want the exciting?
Love that you're out here asking the real questions and getting the real answers
ooh, what's the book about container shipping and is it good?
On a black tray on a black benchtop are twelve Easter cookies, in four shapes - bunny, chick, egg and basket of eggs - which have been haphazardly decorated with icing and sprinkles.
Happy Easter! π°
That book is indeed the one I guessed it would be, and gosh yes, the lolz π
LOL. I'm: "German. Probably not autistic. Probably." π
Awww yis, another year of hand-selected quality on Eddie's list. So much excellent fiction!
Comps, like covers, need to balance selling with selling to the right people. Because honestly, hundreds of people picking up a book just to be disappointed (and vocal about it) is worse than not picking it up!
A foil-wrapped large Easter egg balanced atop a glass, with its top knocked off like a boiled egg, giving a glimpse of dark liquid inside.
Getting on the (Easter) beers at Huzzah... π Apparently this contains the Bridge Road Triple Chocolate Ale!
