Feeling frustrated that the clean tech industry (everything from heat pumps to solar panels to batteries) hasn't learned to lobby state governments in the way that the gas industry has.
As I make my bajillionth phonecall to try to save NY's climate law

Sure, but what's available now will totally work and it beats buying gas. We drove our 2018 EV from NYC to Minneapolis and back, also NYC to New Orleans and back. We walked the dog at charging stops, worked great. Please don't buy a new ICE car. Rent one for road trips if you really must.
Very cool! I had not heard of that trail. Good luck!
Oh that's convenient! What kind of terrain or landscape will the trip be in? If you can get away with a 20L (maybe depending on what kind of shelter needs you'll have), you'll have more options.
I'm currently trying to modify an old Osprey Talon 33 to be better for running, results TBD
If you can get your hands on an original UD Fastpack, they're great. Low on features, highly packable, rides well. I wouldn't be able to carry 5 days of food in my 20L, though, would want 30L for that.
iRunFar ran a comparison of a bunch of newer models from cottage brands, a couple years ago
Then one day you're on a long trip far from home and the sign says "SuezPass only" and you're wondering does my HormuzPass work out here, are they interchangable, and you have to just pick a lane and it's fine
I kinda think if they still feel good, keep em. Unfortunately I've had some shoes start to give me aches and pains before 300 miles but I've also had some that have lasted well past 500. I also feel like huge single-day events (ultra races) tend to age shoes faster than the distance would alone
New York too
Refried beans on toast or a warm tortilla, optional fried egg on top. Low cholesterol if you make olive oil refried beans (no lard) or if you find a vegan canned/premade version that you like
Giant painted banner of the US Constitution with thousands of individual signatures
I was feeling bummed and undecided about going to the No Kings march today. I decided to run there (reliable way to lift my mood), and ended up helping to hold a giant Constitution. After I grabbed on, one of the other marchers said "feel more connected now, right?" And he was right.
@lissaharris.bsky.social we should play one for Kathy Hochul showing nothing but happy heat pump installs, soot-coated boilers getting removed, giant wind turbine blades getting loaded onto ships, maybe throw some smooth flowing buses in midtown Manhattan in there
Honestly I've been thinking of rereading the Redwall books, see if they live up to my memory of them.
Thanks for these stats. We mentioned them in our calls to the Governor, Assembly Speaker, and Senate Majority Leader today.
Thinking this might be my year to do a cross country train trip. I think I'm just barely short enough to be able to sleep in an Amtrak Roomette
And a pack of Mentos
And it totally sucks. One of the only times we've had dug-in opponents show up to one of our (350BK) volunteer calls, it was about BESS
The other time, it was about CHPE
I live in fear of the time when batteries reach this level of polarization
Wow that was a bit of masochistic fun, thanks!
Or thought to trade amongst themselves!
Windy.
The app might not be all that obscure but some of the settings are, and there are a LOT of them. You can select the forecast model, which I'm in no way qualified to do, and types of data displayed (wind, air quality, clouds, wave height, among others).
And it's beautiful
Oh yeah! That is so weird. Especially because everything comes wrapped in excess plastic. Where does it all go! Do people just carry it all home with them? It's not like it turns into litter
Green van with white roof and a roof rack. (It did have an actual license plate on the back)
Check out this little guy I spotted in LIC last week. Look at that cute little face!!
Japan taught me that you can have amazing mass transit and clean public bathrooms everywhere
New Zealand taught me that you can have extensive trail networks and a program of biodiversity conservation as points of national pride
Just off the top of my head
They are one of the most perfect backpacking foods. Great caloric density, don't get pulverized as easily as potato chips. Also one of the most delicious
Mushy dems in NY Assembly ought to take note.

Ideal car for the Greek islands
That's what I've heard and it blows.
It's also a huge missed opportunity for the non-subsidized programs. What if the incentive were just that they'd make the process really seamless. Sigh
He really got me with that last point - imagining a future when the state/utility/whatever just helps you get the perfect water heater and sets you up with a contractor who'll just install it without being a dick about it
Just make my life better and make that the easy choice, thank you
Slow Gods by Claire North. The intro chapter is depressing but stick with it, it's worth it
